An American Christmas Carol (DVD, 1999)

We have 3 different versions of A Christmas Carol. My fave is the one with Patrick Stewart. However, this version is a nice American-ized version.
If you like a variety of family movies for Christmas, this is a good addition to your collection.

Love the Christmas Carol story and loved this version. Only saw it once 10 years ago and have been trying to catch it every year, but never find it so I looked on eBay and my searching is over. I recommend.

I love Classic movies and this movie brought me back a bit. Loved it. I can say this is an Old Fashioned way to spend the Holidays. Time with family, time watching TV together is even better.

One of the best incarnations of the famous Christmas Classic!Perhaps one of Henry Winkler's best performances on screen. The setting of the Depression is appropriate for delivering the message of the season.

I own a copy of this movie on tape and am updating my collection to DVD. This is another version of Dicken's "A Christmas Carol". It is well done. It uses the depression era as its background and I always get a good feeling when Scrooge, played by Henry Winkler, gives Tiny Tim his present. The acting is well done and the idea of a groovy african american ghost of the future is enjoyable. This movie is worth the money to some one who wants to added another heart warming story to their collection.

I had seen this version a number of years ago. I wanted to see if a copy was available on eBay and sure enough it was! I have it for the inspirational message/theme that it has. It was one of Dicken's best works.

I love the older versions of A Christmas Carol. This version just was not up to par, could have done a lot better, not the acting, the actual script. Just not the same as the others, need more depth.

I saw this movie when it first came out back in 1979,i was only 9 years old and i loved it.I cant beleive it when i seen it on dvd,this was a big treat for me,Henry Winkler was the best actor in the movie,i give this show 5 stars.

I bought this movie for my sister for Christmas. We both had seen it once years ago and one day we were sitting talking about the different versions of this story and we both agreed that Henry Winkler did a great job in this role and I thought how fun it would be if I found it on DVD and got it for her for Christmas. I was delighted to find that, not only was it available on DVD, but that it was available at a good price from a seller on Ebay. I received it quickly and my sister was so tickled to find it under the tree Christmas morning. We sat down that afternoon and watched it together with my son and he loved it too. He is 20 years old and doesn't usually watch the same kind of movies but it was a special occasion. He said he was glad he did because it was a bit different from the other versions and was a nice change.

A movie I couldn't find in any store..... great to have. I am very please with the DVD and like discovering these hard to find movies.

I have all the Christmas Carol movies available on DVD. I just like the story of Scrooge. This is really different and uses a more modern setting...well more modern than the 1800's that is. Henry Winkler is a fabulous actor and carries this character off well.

The story's the same - how it's told is different. Henry Winkler does a good job as Slade/Scrooge...easily ranking amongst the evilest of them. Even though this was made in the 70's it doesn't appear dated. The creators have done a great job creating period. Obviously some license is taken with the original story, but there are so many retellings of "A Christmas Carol" this one is different enough and interesting enough to deserve a place amongst the other classics.

As we all know it is a remake of an excellent christmas story. Henry Winkler does an absolute fabulous job as scrooge. A must see

The best rendering of this classic tale that I have ever viewed. Henry Winkler is perfection as Slade, the "Scrooge" character. If you are a fan of the Dickens story, you will love this movie!

This is a wonderfully heartwarming Christmas Classic. An awesome take off from the Classic Christmas Carol. This movie truly pulls you back in time and helps you share both the pain and joy resulting from a bitter heart that is touched by the warmth of the spirit of Christmas. A must have Christmas story!

Great movie! Puts a new spin on Charles Dickens. Henry Winkler is great as the lead character. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes "A Christmas Carol", whichever version you like. With it being set in the Depression, it really hits home.

I LIKE A CHRISTMAS CAROL OF ANY TYPE.BUT THIS WAS DIFFERENT AND IT WAS MORE REAL.AND I LIKE HENRY WINKLERS ACTING.WHAT I DON'T LIKE IS THEY ARE TO SHORT.I DICIDED TO BUY IT SINCE THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT. I LIKED THE STORY LINE IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT.I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE ON AGAIN AND IT NEVER GOT PLAYED AGAIN. SO WHEN I SAW IT FOR SALE ON EBAY I PUT MY BID IN AND WON.THANKS
