This graphic novel is a fantastic read.
It is the fun - sitting in the park with a soda on a warm afternoon - kind of book you would love to have!
Although the book focuses on Asian American racial identity it is accessible for anyone who has ever felt on the outside of things (and even those who haven't).

This is a great graphic novel for young readers AND adults. The imagery is unique - mixing in realism and "cartoony." The story of being an outsider in a world of middle class Caucasians resonates for any one of any race who has grown up as an outsider in the suburbs. It also has a message for tolerance for those who might be judgmental of those different. While Gene Yang tells the story from a Chinese perspective, any one from any background can relate - African, Jewish, Indian. Fantasy is mixed with reality deftly.
I highly recommend this graphic novel. If you don't win the auction, go to your library and check it out.
