Movie Description
The impact of World War II on American history and culture is immeasurable; that period serves as a sort of dividing line across the twentieth century. Though the battlefields of Europe served as the backdrop for action, the occurrences on the American home front were equally radical and significant. From the entrance of women into the work force to the mass migration to the North and West industrial centers, the economic landscape was forever changed. AMERICA AT WAR explores this shift in the four video collection, THE HOME FRONT. The episodes included are: "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition," "Rosie the Riveter," "Hollywood at War," and "The Aftermath." Told through an amalgam of newsreels, propaganda documentaries, and Hollywood films, these programs are entertaining and educational. In addition, "Rosie The Riveter" remains a classic of effective propaganda, and is often shown in history and film classrooms.
