Amazon Women on the Moon (DVD, 2003)

This was a movie we used to rent all the time in high school and laugh like crazy. It's a great unique movie, basically several short sketches with a few amazon women thrown in every now and again for the fun of it. Many, many cameos by TV and movie stars of the 80s. Watching it brought back some funny memories. If somehow you missed this movie in the 80s, you would definitely enjoy it. If you like it, another movie that is written in the same style but actually funnier is "The Hollywood Shuffle."

"Amazon Women On The Moon" is a classic, funny movie along the lines of "Kentucky Fried Movie" and "The Groove Tube." The movie is presented in skit type format and moves at a rib tickling pace from one comedy sketch to another. Interspersed among these comedy "shorts" is the lnog running sketch that gives the movie its name "Amazon Women On The Moon." If you're from my generation you'll recall those old, B movies that used to preview late on Friday and Saturday nights. You'll also remember how those movies would experience technical difficulties and the bland image (most often accompanied with elevator muzak) that sat interminably on your television screen. At times the skits seem like a visual time capsul into the 1980's... the clothes, the hairstyles, the hottest and brightest stars from that era who perform in the movie. If you own "Kentucky Fried Movie," and "The Groove Tube" this movie is a MUST have for your collection of twisted humor DVD's. Don't miss Carrie Fisher (in the last skit of the movie) in a role that puts Princess Leia to shame... LITERALLY!

Movie was new and in excellent condition. Hilarious movie that I hadn't seen in ages!! Glad I bought it.

From the director of Animal House and the Blues Brothers....this movie is one of the funniest movies ever!!! Its a spoof on late night tv that will leave you rolling. A must see!!

Easy to watch--no plot--just a number of short skits--very funny at times
not so at others--in between an old chiller theater "B" movie & an Elvira
"Haunted Hills" flick--Had an old VHS copy & updated to C.D.

A real stoner. Should be a classic. You forget that it's dated, because the more time that passes it becomes even more absurd. Should be around for generations, and should be seen by anyone who takes life just too serious. I bought it to let my daughter see how entertaining movies can be in today's barrage of socio-dysfunction. A movie that doesn't attempt to make any sense whatsoever makes the most sense of all. It will make the most hardened viewer laugh til he cries. The reference material is a nostalgic throwback to a time when we were happy with low budget scifi, and drive in quality entertainment. A must see.

One of my favorite comedies....right up there with the blues brothers and Christmas vacation. Don "no soul" Simmons cracks me up!
