Amazon Kindle

In my opinion, the Amazon Kindle E-Book Reader is the future of the reading industry. You can download books, newspapers, and magazines for a fraction of the cost of you would pay to physically buy them. Just like you download ring tones on your cell phone, you can download a book from the Amazon Kindle Store. It is so easy---any person of any age can do this! It is about the size of a paperback book, so you can slip it in your purse, backpack, or briefcase, and read anywhere! It is so very easy to use, you only need to know the basics to get started reading. Buy a Kindle, save a few trees! Running out of shelf space--the Kindle is the answer. It holds over 200 books, etc., and uses a memory card to store countless more. I am so pleased with my Kindle, and I would highly recommend it to other readers.

I bought this for my husband as a gift. He loves to read and thought this would be a great gift for Summer travelling. What sold him on the Kindle was the Whispernet Technology that would allow him to browse for and buy books virtually anywhere you can get Sprint cell phone coverage. We live in an area that supposedly gets awesome reception - orange area. The device would show full bars, just like a cell phone, but could never get and maintain a connection. If he tried to download a book it would hang up for several minutes and then say the connection was lost. Twice he called Kindle support. He was told to go outside, go to a different location, or just download books off his computer with the provided USB Port. He tried moving to different locations but downloading books from his computer defeated his reason for getting the Kindle in the first place. So it went back to Amazon.

I am giving the Kindle 3 stars because as a eBook reader it is nice. It does need some redesign in the "Next Page" and "Back" buttons as they are very easy to press when you don't mean to. If you are perfectly fine with downloading your books from your computer then you will probably love the Kindle. If, however, you would like to take it with you on business or pleasure trips and don't have your computer you may not be able to download any books, newspapers, magazines or blogs.

I think Wi-Fi technology would work better with the Kindle. There are more and more hotspots available now. Even in McDonalds. And most hotels and airports also offer Wi-Fi making it great for travel. So until that aspect is improved upon he will continue to read books the old fashioned way or use his iPod Touch for audio books.

Love having so many books in hand and in such a compact product. Don't have to have shelves for storing my ebooks or lug around a large hardback.
