Alpine is breaking the mold with its 2002 line of high-performance Type-R subwoofers, which feature a completely re-designed motor structure based on the company's patent pending Compound Radius Curve Pole geometry. Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Alpine's American speaker engineers completely re-vamped the magnet architecture of the Type-R subwoofers to focus maximum magnetic energy within the pole piece, resulting in increased power handling, reduced distortion and more SPL. Alpine's Compound Radius Curve Pole design also delivers improved thermal management with an airflow-optimized dual flare pole vent and integrated heat transfer plate.
