Alpine Blackbird II PMD-B200 GPS Receiver

After a few months of use my blackbird stopped working. Alpine replaced it with a new unit without any hassles. Besides the great technical support I like the mp3 capabilities, Built in bluetooth and SD card slot. The Blackbird II is also equipped with a 20-channel GPS receiver and comes preloaded with Navteq maps of North America, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. You get an array of navigation features, including turn-by-turn text and voice guided driving directions, automatic rerouting, a trip computer, and route demo. There's also a 6 million points-of-interest POI database so you can search for places by name or category and sort them by name, city, or distance from your current location. The Blackbird II can also be used as a portable handheld GPS.

The unit is ok. It is not the best GPS on the market but it is really expensive. It is nice to put in the Alpine receiver and also use as a portable unit.

I bought this unit because of my radio upgrade. I had Alpine iva-w200 and sold this unit got iva-w205. I like idea this radio has docking option for Alpine Blackbird 2 PMD-B200 plus built-in blue tooth. GPS easy to use. I just play with it and so easy to operate. Once I plug into Alpine iva-w205, I get to use 6.5" screen instead of 3.5". everything is touch screen which I liked. I wish this unit say name of the street instead of make left or right turn. Only thing I didn't like was not every address was in this unit. I had to manually set up point a to point b. built-in SD memory card feature good. I can put a SD card up to 4GB.
Battery last only 2 hours if you use it as portable. I don't like mess wire setups, If you have double-din radios, get a Alpine iva-w205. It has factory look and no mess wire all over on dash board.

My alpine Blackbird B200 just quit working. I have NEVER dropped nor spilled anything onto it. I thought the rechargable battery needed to be replaced. So I bought an extra one. Well this unit is completely dead. So now I called Alpine, they will not warranty the unit if it is purchased on ebay. They will only warranty the product if it is purchased through reputable dealer. What a bunch of thief, This unit cost me $600.00 when it came out. Aside from giving bad directions, hanging, now completely dead. Total junk. Before you purchase this product, look for reviews on google. (threads) This is a common problem.
