along came a spider by james patterson
Review created: 07/08/09

BACK OF BOX SAYS:

ALONG CAME A SPIDER BEGINS WITH A DOUBLE kidnapping: the daughter of a famous hollywood actress and the young son of the u.s. secretary of the treasury. gary soneji is a muderous serial kidnapper who wants to commit the crime of the century: alex cross the brilliant homicide detective is pitted against him: jessie flanagan, the feamle supervisor of the secret service: all of them thown in together in one of the most unusualy supense trials ever.

this was a very different book for me to read.
i usually stick to paranormals and romance.

i think this might be the first book i have ever read where it was told from
the man's point of view. the woman's club is written by james also but the main character is a woman. while in these alex cross book's it's a man.

i was surprised that the book is so old 1992,

you also have to respect his mothers point of view- i know there has to be some english teacher out there who could anaylize this book and his mother's character as she predicts a few things that you don't see coming.

it's probably right up there with to kill a mockingbird in it's literary values. i highly recommend the audio book on this. michael kramer sounds like sam spade detective it's most excellent.

Received used copy although advertised as new, book in good condition, but spine bent as if read already. Price was right, but would have preferred honesty.

First book in the Alex Cross thriller/suspense novels
Review created: 11/12/08

I have every book in the Alex Cross, (detective, family man and psychologist) collection by James Patterson. This book will keep your attention and will be hard to put down. This book is fast reading and keeps you guessing. Just when you think you have the plot figured out, another twist takes place. This book has been made into a movie starring Morgan Freeman. Make sure to have all his books available to you so you can read the next one without a break in between. I highly recommend this series of Alex Cross by James Patterson.

  A Great Book!!!
Review created: 11/07/08

I love this book! I recently began reading the Alex Cross series by James Patterson and have quickly become addicted! This is the first in a series of what has now become a fourteen book set. It really sets the tone for who Alex Cross and his family are and the fast-paced, suspenseful action that are a part of every book in this series so far! Don't plan on reading just a chapter or two at a time because once you start you won't be able put it down! The characters are very real, the emotions raw and the story moves at lightning pace. Gary Sonjei will chill you to the core! To sum it up: DO NOT miss this one!

  AWESOME BOOK

After reading almost everything by Dean Koontz and being somewhat disappointed by his later works, I decided to try someone else. This is the 3rd Patterson book I've read and the writing is awsome. This is the best.

  Got me hooked
Review created: 08/19/07
by:

This was the very first book I read of James Patterson, needless to say I was hooked. He gets you right at the very beginning and doesn't let go. I have read just about every one of Alex Cross series, they are addictive. I would have to say though the movies of the books does a terrible injustice. Kiss the Girls is pretty good, but compared to the book it doesn't even come close. I was terribly dissapointed in Along Came A Spider as a movie, it was totally different.

The title alone shows the deceit inside the book.
Review created: 08/06/07

I saw the movie way before I read the book and I am glad now of that. The movie short ends the books twist and turns. I had read a few other books by James Patterson and love his writing style so it was not a hard leap to start reading the Alex Cross series.
This book is full of 'crazy' characters and new plot twist at every turn.
James Patterson has me hooked on the Alex Cross series and I read each book with as much gusto as the last.
Great mystery and crime book, with thrills galore.

  Along Came a Spider
Review created: 08/04/07

This is just another excellent spell binder by the magical writings of James Patterson. Since my daughter turned me on to him with First to die I just can't get enough of his books to read. I finished the entire Alex Cross series in just about a week. And the Woman's Murder Club in less time than that. So now I am trying to get my hands on everything else he has written that I haven't read. So if you want to get hooked like I did, start with "Along Came a Spider" but be sure that you have "Kiss the Girls" near by to pick up and start reading as soon as you can because you won't want to miss a single moment in the life of Dr. Detective Alex Cross.

James Patterson is one of my favorite authors, I have read all of his books, And my only complaint is that he doesnt write fast enough, I need at least one new book every week :O)
I wont divulge any plots of the book because if you are like me you dont wont to know the plots until you reach them in the book. This has also been made into a very good film.
I highly recomend this book.
