Alone in the Dark (DVD, 2005)

After the terrible house of the dead(another video game i had never heard of), i reluctantly gave uwe boll another chance to impress me. While not as bad as house, my average rating is for the gratuitous gore, alone in the dark is not good. Tara reid cannot act(she does look good). the usually good christian slater has nothing to work with. I must be getting old because i miss good horror/monster movies like john carpenters the thing, Romeros' dead movies, and even prophecy by frankenheimer.

tara reid, need i say more? horrible just horrible......... no wonder it sat on the shelf forever before someone released it, they should have left it there

i myself love the movie of action and horror so this was the very best movie and scenes with fights are the best of the best movies

This movie is loosely based on the computer game Alone In The Dark. I think it falls short of recreating the same captivating excitement that the game offered, mostly because of bad directing. Nevertheless, it is okay to watch and it can make a good addition to your Alone In The Dark collection of items.

Well what can i say, i have never played the games before but from what i've read this is nothing like them at all.
Going on th film itself it was alright!
Nice action, interesting storyline, ok acting, but to be totally honest this film was just a big cheese fest, i watched this on a rented dvd and 4 £3 it wasn't really too much to grumble about but to be honest it was un-original and very predictable.

My suggestion:
Don't buy rent!

A bit of sci-fi, not the best made movie. Not something I would purchase. Good enough to watch once, maybe. Seems to be cheaply made.

I loved the movie. Wish it was in Blu-Ray. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. I am a horror fan though!!!

Uwe Boll's video game inspired horror thriller is rather uninspired and horrifically lacking in true thrills. Christian Slater plays an investigator of the para-normal who is mostly interested in figuring out his own para-normal childhood. Tara Reid [who is by far the most beautiful assistant museum curator of all time], tags along in Slater's quest to learn about an extinct North American tribe and the supernatural beast that may have wiped them all out. The special FX are pretty decent, but the camera work is wobbly and the dialogue is the scariest thing about the whole picture. The horror genre is booming and some of the slash and scare releases are original and enjoyable, but this isn't one of them. If the dialogue and the camera work was cleaned up and the plot was a little less convaluted and contrived, this would have potential to be a likable DVD. As is, it is only viewable once and then only if you're super bored.

Good action pack film.I will give it 3 stars.Slater is a good actor and does well in this film.I would watch again.

I wish I could give this movie less than one star.. ugh. I am a HUGE fan of the game this was REALLY loosely based on, and let me tell you- it is a HORRIBLE movie. Not because it doesn't follow the game- simply because the acting, directing, and everything involved is absolutely horrible.

If you do want to watch this movie, please make sure to have a stick handy to bite on while watching the shooting scene that will probably give you an epileptic seizure, and to be prepared to shake your head a WHOLE LOT.

Uwe Boll is an awful director, and a mean person pretty much beyond that. Take a look on youtube.com for some of his 'Uwe Boll on petitions' videos- he is rude because he knows that he's terrible.

Anyhow, this movie is not something you'd ever want to see- unless you like uwe's work, in which this case, you won't be disappointed. Ick.

Unfortunately, this isn't the so-bad-it's-good type of movie. Oh, no. It's the so-bad-it's-CRAP type. I couldn't believe what I was watching; I could only shake my head in disbelief.

And Tara Reid? I guess they went for the "put some glasses on the airhead and everyone will think she's brainy" trick. I didn't fall for it.

I think I lost brain cells watching this one.
