Admittedly, song titles like "Body Bumpin'" and "D.O.G. In Me" leave little to the imagination as to Public Announcement's lyrical preoccupation, but ALL WORK, NO PLAY isn't the kind of record you turn to for introspective wordplay or emotional complexity. It's a bump-and-grind beatfest, where rhythm and sensuality are the order of the day. Amid slow jams galore, this R&B vocal quartet delivers the goods, providing the perfect soundtrack for candlelit romance. There's a sentimental side to Public Announcement as well; tunes like "Turn The Hands" and "Straight From The Heart" are seductive soul ballads that reflect the tender side of the group's music. For extra flavor, there are guest appearances by Shaq and Roger Troutman, who shake things up a bit.
