Hammer aces as one of eight licensed world-class pros in Ubi Soft’s ALL STAR TENNIS ’99. Wield the fierce racket of Michael Chang, Jonas Björkman, Amanda Coetzer, Richard Krajicek, Gustavo Kuerten, Conchita Martinez, Jana Novotna, and Mark Philippoussis. You can also play as one of four fictional players on eight different courts: Wimbledon, Mediterranean, California, Paris, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Australia. The intricate and detailed gameplay provides you with six fearsome shots to select from: slice, smash, backspin, topspin, lob, and volley. In addition, each player possesses a patented special shot. With three intense modes and four-player capability, the gameplay options are seemingly endless. Challenge the best in the world in Arcade mode, drive the ball past your opponent in Smash mode and get blown away in the explosive Bomb mode. For some extra competition, get seven friends together and volley for the championship crown in tournament play.

  AST '99 dissappoints

Pros:
Arcade modes

Cons:
Lack of depth

First things first. I'm a HUGE tennis fan, and when I heard that a tennis game was being released for N64, I just had to go out there and buy it no matter what. So then I got it, and after playing it for about 2 days, I realized that AST'99 was not the game I expected to be. It is not necessarily a terrible game, it's just that tennis fans like me expect a lot more from a game based on a sport we all enjoy. First of all I think that Ubisoft could have worked a whole lot more on the graphical aspect of this game. I've seen real 64-bit graphics and they don't look anything like this. The game...

As far as the gameplay goes things don't get much better, particularly if you're involved in a match featuring a CPU player. The control system is clumsy and unresponsive, the animation is laughable and what goes on in the heads of those CPU players is anybody's guess. Mind-numbing rallies which are occasionally reminiscent of Pong are broken up only by occasions when your CPU opponent decides either to stand rooted to the spot as the ball flies by or, as is more often the case, make a heroic leap towards the ball about two seconds too late. If you're playing against a CPU doubles partnership.

Pros:
Good With Four Players

Cons:
Not Smooth, Unrealistic

All Star Tennis 99' was not what I had expected from the first tennis game to come out for N64. I disliked it for many reasons and liked it for only one purpose and that was because the four player multiplayer option was very fun while the one player match play ia boring. The main reason that I disliked the game was because the graphics in the game were not smooth at all, and there were a lot of glitches. The sound in the game is just several noises that are repeated again and again. Another bad characteristic about this game was the fact that all of the players have just about the same...

Worst game I have seen in a bit

Pros:
Its tennis and tennis is fun

Cons:
the game play and hitting the ball

Well I went to get a great tennis game from Blockbuster. I found this one, I said hey this may be pretty good. I had played an arcade tennis game and wanted one for the N64. Well I took this one home plugged it in and became more and more dissapointed. This game is horrible the action is bad, the players are bad and the controls can become really frustrating. This is one of the worst games out there for the N64, my advise is do not rent this game. The ball can be very hard to hit, which is a problem because that is the main point of the game. The game is missing the bigger stars in tennis...
