Developer Iguana Entertainment has also improved upon last year's high resolution visuals, presenting more animation routines, polished textures and redesigned 3D stadiums. Even the game's sense of speed has undergone a boost, eliminating long, sometimes tedious delays between pitches. There are also loads of new animations including head tracking, fielding errors, more realistic catches and bat swinging, as well as strikeout reactions for batters and pitchers. Special Features 3D batting system now enables players to determine what direction they want to hit the ball. Evasive slides: Players can avoid tags by sliding above or below bag. Pitch speed control. Pitch history. Holt/Cold streaks. In-game weather effects include rain and snow. Instant replay feature. Improved player drafts, trade rules, season simulation, etc. Player trades as well as trade logic. Night and day games, on grass or turf, home or away. Loads of new animations including head tracking, fielding errors, more realistic catches and bat swinging, strikeout reactions for batters and pitchers, etc. Crowds now react intelligently to plays with cheers and so forth. More television-style action camera angles. New player graphics including sunglasses, alternate uniforms, high socks, different head sizes and more realistic body sizes. Improved play-by-play commentary by John Sterling and Michael Kay. Rain delays. Broken bat hits and more varied dust effects. New Stadiums -- Safeco (Seattle), Milwaukee, San Francisco and Spring Training stadiums. Improved statistical tracking -- OPS, inherited runners, % who scored, strikeout-to-walk ratio, pitches thrown, balls and strikes, etc. Create-a-player increased to 25 players (for entire team create mode).
