All the Real Girls (DVD, 2003)

I liked how down to earth the characters in this movie were. The "romantic" and love theme is different from other movies that I have seen. I can't say exactly why I was surprised because it would ruin the movie but just know it is different! If you like chick flicks you will like it too but for those of us out there who would choose to stab ourselves in the eye with a pencil before watching the typical chick flick this is a winner!

One of my favorite films of all times. A great indie filmed here in NC. Alot of the stars of this film have gone on to have uber success. Director David Gordon Green, a product of NC School of the arts, homered on this one!

Very, very good film with great performances from the main actors and solid work from the supporting cast. A lot of heart, honesty and sincerity in a terrfic film about first love.

The film is ultimately a bit of a mess, and it's unfocused nature works greatly against it's impact. The film takes far too long to get moving, and ends on a much too busy and somewhat cliche note. Green shows he can do great things, if only he'd get himself organized. Also: the visuals are at times breathtaking, but get to be over-used and somewhat gratutitous.

I finally broke down and bought this dvd after renting it multiple times. Zooey Deschanel is a really talented actress and I think this is one of her best performances. The dvd is great with really intriguing commentary from the independent filmmakers, one of whom stars in the film. Some might find it a bit slow paced, but I think it is a beautiful film...poetic really!
