The best film in this series!

After the very first "Alien" movie from 1979 was a hit, it would seem an obvious choice that a sequel would be next. Fans were kept waiting for 7 years; but, in 1986, the sequel "Aliens" was released. It was followed by 2 more films. But, this second chapter is the best one of the entire series. Although Sigourney Weaver portaryed Ripley in all 4 films, she really gives her best work in this second film. In fact, it was in "Aliens" that she earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress; a rare feat for a science fiction movie. In this story, Ripley is the only survivor of the devistating alien attack from the first film where her entire crew was wiped out. She has remained in hyper-sleep for 57 years. When she awakens, she learns that more alien monsters are on the loose and wreaking havoc. This time, she is more determined than ever to destroy them once and for all. Joining her are a gung-ho group of marines ready to fight. The action that ensues results in almost everyone being captured or killed by these monsters. There are fabulous supporting roles from Bill Paxton as Hudson, Michael Biehn as Hicks, Lance Henriksen as Bishop, and Paul Reiser as Carter Burke. While the original 1986 film is a blast, it is this special edition version that remains the definitive one. It restores 17 minutes of footage back into the film, thus enhancing the viewing experience, giving more emphasis on both story and character development. A landmark in the science fiction film genre, highlighted by Weaver's Oscar-nominated turn as Ripley, the 1986 sequel "Aliens" remains the best film in the series.
