Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie (CD, Jan-1987, Reprise)

This is my second CD of this album. I am giving it as a gift to my Nephews who have never heard of Arlo or Alice. It's good, clean, fun music that took alot of thinking to put together. I don't agree with Arlo's anti war position, but love the music. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it's wrong. Dale, Grass Valley Ca.

I was refunded money for a Christmas Gift with NO WORD ON why or where! I had asked what was going on BUT recieved NO ANSWER....this was to be surprise gift as it is hard to find AND it is one of my wife's favorite Thanksgiving traditions....THANKS ALOT!!!...if you are NOT going to honor a sale then DONOT sell it!!!!!

I listened to this song over and over as a teenager. Haven't heard it for 20 or more years. Was surprised to discover that I could still recite so many of the words, along with the DVD. Catchy tune that sticks in my head and is lighthearted and fun.
Might become a family tradition to play this every Thanksgiving evening.

As a "Child of the Sixties" I grew up with this song. These days it's only played on our local radio station here in New Jersey on Thanksgiving. I bought this CD so I can hear Arlo's ballad any time I want! I really love this tune and it's fun to share with my grown children. Unfortunately the other tracks, in my opinion, don't impress me. BUT...I gladly paid the full CD price just to hear the title song. With an 18 minute listening time, it's well worth the money.

Timeless folk classic. Alice's Restaurant is one of the greatest songs ever performed and no matter how many times I listen to it it makes me laugh. I hear they might be bring back the draft. Might just have to start teaching our kids this song. We could start a movement. 5 Stars.

I HAD THIS ALBUM ON LP, BACK IN THE 70'S JUST UPGRADING MY COLLECTION WITH THIS CD. I WAS DRAFTED IN 1968 ABOUT THE TIME THIS WAS POPULAR. MY LP WORE OUT , LOT'S OF SCRATCHES SO I UPGRADED TO THE CD VERSION. I ALSO HAD MY LP SIGNED BY ARLO WHEN HE WAS IN TOWN FOR A CONCERT ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO.

THIS CD IS FULL OF FUN STORY TELLING. I HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS CD FOR A LONG WHILE. THANK GOODNESS I FINALLY FOUND IT. I JUST CAN NOT STOP LISTENING. I CAN NOT SEEM TO STOP SMILING AND EVEN LAUGHING WHEN I HEAR THE STORY OF ALICE AND THE DRAFT.

This song is played EVERY Thanksgiving Day on a local radio station here in Norfolk, Va. (106.9 The FOX) by ARLO, one of our local DJ's. (Just a coincidence his name being ARLO) I look forward to hearing it but alas, sometimes I miss it 'cause I'm doing something else and the radio's not on. Although I DO have the song on my IPOD, I just never invested in the DVD. When I saw it listed on eBay, I bought it instantly!!

I bought this product for my husband for part of his Christmas present. I bought him front row tickets to see Arlo Guthrie in April as well. I was looking to bring back a part of his past that has great memories. It was a total success. This CD was the icing on the cake as they say.

A Thankgiving tradition that must live on and be passed along to friends and family! A GREAT 19 minute song that really must be carefully listened to (if you can stop laughing, and commenting on the warped humor)! You might only play this a few times a year (aroung Thanksgiving), but whoever listens to it with you will remember it!!!

The other songs on the CD are basically filler and certainly not Arlo's best work.

Getting to hear this classic once again, after so many years---is like having another Thanksgiving dinner that couldn't be beat!I was a few years behind those who were dredged in the Hippie movement,but I heard this just after I signed up for the draft.I signed up as a "conscientious objector".If anything had happened,I guess I would have had to have walked in,sung a few bars and walked out.(then on down to Mexico)
I was delighted to hear Alice's Restaurant,but a little disappointed with the rest of the CD.

I had Alice's Restuarant on an album and it's one of those songs we use to play every Thanksgiving. Needed to relive those memories and what better way than to buy it on CD. It was great and even listened to the other songs on the CD that I never listened to when it was on the album.
