Alice In Wonderland (DVD, 1999)

Every movie calls you into its world. The secret to a successful movie is whether it can make that world believable or not. This movie, well produced as it is, handsome as it is in its sets, special effects and photography is just plain boring. The main star goes through the motions, with its impressive cast all of which try very hard, but all of who are working with a very dull script. Together with flat directing, the movie appears longer than it is. There are attempts at humor, and with the possible exception of Whooppi Goldberg playing the cat, everybody else is playing an odd sense of dry humor and going through a story we've seen or read before. For all the obvious money spent on the production, it is a very dull show. Don't waste the time.

Brilliant movie - 10 out of 10 by far. I have watched this with 2 year olds (who find it a little scary in parts but its a fun scary) and 6 year olds and 40 year olds and its kept all ages thoroughly entertained. Our family has watched this movie over and over again for each time you notice something different theres so much in there. Its beautifully filmed, brilliantly acted and flows so well. The music is great too.

Martin Short as the Mad Hatter...genius! Whoopi Goldberg as the Cheshire cat- inspired casting is seen throughout this entire movie. If you'd like a new twist on an old classic then buy this movie!

I saw this originally when it aired on NBC back in 1999 and absolutely LOVED it. This, by far, is my favorite version of this story and I was just wishing it had come back on television to no avail. Suddenly I realized "EBAY", that's it...and VOILA her it is! We ordered it and are just delighted we will be able to view it as many times as we like.

This version has something the others don't; style. This isn't just a children's story, but one that adults will just lap up even if there aren't any children in the house. The actors are brilliant, but the costumes, the writing and directing are what set this one apart.

Fantastic real life fairytale. A firm favourite in my collection! My kids love this different fairytale that is not an animated version. Infact I, the mom loved it too!

Im a big Alice in Wonderland fan since I was a kid. I have this version on VHS so when I found it on Dvd, I was excited! Its too funny, great cast of people!
If you have kids...definately add this one to your collection!

I love alice in wonderland. the whole concept of the movie is just amazing. and the colors and everything is just really good.

Beautifully done, quite out of order but stuck to the story well. Loved it. The Queen of Hearts, was for lack of words, completely mad and really convincing.

This is a great movie of a classic children's story! Whoopi as the Cheshire Cat is very entertaining, glad to own the DVD now!

This is my favorite Alice in Wonderland. Reminds me of the characters in the 1950's 'Through the Looking Glass' movie. I think this movie is great!

This all star cast of performers is sure to delight and captivate all ages. I am a HUGE Alice and Wonderland fan, but did not watch all of this version when it orig. came out because I was not a fan of some of the cast members. This year a friend of mine told me how much he loved this version, so I bought it, and when my children and I watched it we understood what he was talking about...it was "AWESOME"!

I did not like the way the transaction was handled. I paid for the item straight away and the seller had on their website that the item would ship within 1-2 business days and I would be alerted via email. Instead the item was shipped 5 business days later and they did not notify me that it was on backorder. No refund was offered if I wanted to back out of the purchase, which I would have. I contacted the seller and gave them neutral feedback on the whole process and was infuriated that in return they gave me negative feedback. If I had known that they are known for this (I checked out their ratings, and saw that they give negative feedback to every buyer that gives them less than positive feedback), I would have given them a negative mark. The communication after the feedback was given was satisfactory but I was pissed that they thought they didn't do anything wrong and that they notified me as advertised on their website. I was extremely unhappy over the ending and will NEVER do business with them again. I did receive the product but after 14 business days.

This film is one for the entire family. Many great actors do their best to make it a movie to watch again and again.
