Alfred Hitchcock - The Legend Begins (DVD, 2007, 4-Disc Set)

I bought my set on ebay for 99cents. Search hard before you pay silly prices. The set contains everything available of Hitch's British output (his best). The cine to dvd transfers are not good e.g. top of people's heads cut off, side edges missing etc. There is a hum on the soundtrack of JAMAICA INN. The prints used have obviously been round the block many many times. BUT where else will you see these films? And so cheap! Comments such as "not in colour" and "you have to stop and read the title cards on the silents" are obviously made by viewers with expectations formed by today's cinema, rather than movie buffs. However the movie buffs will continue to wait for restored versions to be issued on DVD (or whatever media will be used in future). This set will have to suffice for now.

I got hooked on Alfred Hitchcock in the 1960's when I was a child. I would stay with my grandmother, and she would let me stay up late and watch the shows with her. The "Legends Series" brings back so many memories. There is something about watching the Alfred Hitchcock black and white movies that just make them great and remind you of days gone by. If you are a fan of the "Master of Suspense", you have to get this DVD Set. Kick back on a stormy night and let your senses run wild!

I love Alfred Hitchcock. I remember as a child I would stay up late with my Grandmother and wait for Alfred Hitchcock to come on T.V. I love the suspense movies the most. With this DVD, there are other movies that are very old. I love the old black and white movies. Some of them are silent films. If you like old movies or Hitchcock, you may enjoy this DVD.

LOTS of movies, so I thought I might see more familiar titles than 2! Still, it's fun to see some of his earlier pix. Gave to my dad, who's a Hitchcock fan, and he was pretty happy with it though.

There are some movies in this box set that are silent movies.Not are a real good thing to keep you glued to the set.2 "movies" are shorts from the Alfred Hitchcock Show.Yet the overall set is still pretty good if you like older movies.

I enjoyed these the first time I saw them and now I can enjoy them over and over again..My Partner and I laughed jumped and made mad guesses about endings we had pure fun with this set..Hitchcock at his best...telling stories, cracking jokes and being dead serious the entire time!! We love it!!..Hitchcock Fans will marvel at these timeless classics...

I purchased the Legend Beging and thought The Legend Continues was later movies and found out they were both the same. Beware! Same movies marketed under different and misleading titles.

The movies are in black and white and do not give one the level of enjoyment that they would otherwise give by todays standards.
All the movies are from the 1930's.
I prefer the later movies.

Dealers easy to deal with AAAA+++. Giving this to my Library.Stories are real old, and very boring. Stories stink.

I love the movies, but the quality was so extremely poor that you can't even watch over half of them. The dvd's stop playing in the middle of the movies and won't restart, they "skip" and restart. Seller just told me that the manufacturing quality was poor (but they did nothing about it for me, the buyer)

loved the movies, they where great, they where the classic movies, of black and white and silent ones. plus the price was right for my budget.

I've been a Hitchcock fan for years but had never seen any of his early work. He was indeed a Master.
