This book has been around forever--after all, I had it and loved it when I was a kid! Now, my kids really enjoy this one as well. In it, Alexander explains why he had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Not only does he have to sit in the middle of two other kids in the carpool, but his mom forgot dessert in his lunch bag, his breakfast cereal box had no toy inside, and he has a cavity at the dentist office--among many other things that go wrong, too.
Kids love the book because they can relate to what it's like to go through a day where everything seems to go wrong. Alexander learns that his solution for the problems (a move to Australia) probably won't help either, because everyone has a bad day every once in a while, no matter where they live.
The illustrations are cute and the text is short and to the point. Despite the fact that this book is now over 30 years old, it does not seem dated. Everything in it still applies, and the sentiment is real.
A great addition to a children's book collection.
