This book is somewhat dry reading, however once I got into it I found a wealth of information that would be useful to everyone. I would reccommend this book to anyone interested in the subject regardless of the reason.

If you are interested in the early struggles and history of Alcoholics Anonymous than this is a great book. Told by co-founder Bill W. I did find it however a little dry because it is written with much description of events happening to a newly formed organization. The chapters are extremely long....

If you are into deeply historical writings, than this may be the book for you.

I do have to say that it was interesting to read about some things that I would otherwise not have known about...this includes how the 12 Traditions came and stayed with the group.

  Important History of AA
Review created: 12/01/07

I wanted more in depth history of AA and this book delivers. The first 50 pages are slow as it is Bill W's recounting and thanking early members of AA in various cities. Pages 50 through 90 are a more detailed relating of Bill W's personal story--more detailed than in the AA Big Book. Pages 90-on are a relating of how the AA 12 Traditions came to be and the stories in that section are very informative and helpful. I have not progressed beyond page 110 due to other exigencies.
