Chapter #5 really spells out "How It Works. The text also explains having a daily reprieve contingent upon one's spiritual condition. The book Twelve Steps& Twelve Traditions is suggested as companion reading.

My husband and I decided to buy this product because many AA members can't afford to buy this book brand new, so since I'm a frequent buyer on Half.com, I knew I would be able to find it here, and I did, and bought two of them. Possibly more in future if we can. I was pleased with the product, but was a tiny bit disappointed by one of them not have the jacket, but the book itself was in good condition.

I purchased this book to better understand my boyfriend's success at three years sobriety with AA's assistance. This reference book is priceless to a non-alcoholic to understand this disease.

This book is a must read for anyone who has or who knows someone with an alcohol problem. It is easy to read and addresses all aspects of the 'allergy of alcohol.' It lifts the spirit of those who feel all hope is gone and does so without judging!

This book saved my life. The Doctors Opinion explains what alcoholism is. The rest of the book leads you through the process, that is required, to achieve what the writers of the book had achieved. That is recovery from a "seemingly hopeless state of mind and body".

Always looking for 1st editions and 1st printings. This is a recent publication but looks pretty good and should turn out to be a good investment

This book is definately a good book. This is a "must read" for alcoholics and family. You will learn so very much !!

Right price and great condition. I work at a hospital that does not provide these, so I purchase them to give to patients. They are very greatful. One veteran stated he had always wanted one but didn't buy one and now that he is reading it- it is about his life. GREAT!!!!

This is one of the best books anyone could eread. I't requires a little thought , but it will help anyone with the problems of life. Not just for alcoholics.
I had trouble living life on lifes terms, but this book and some of the stories that I can apply to different areas of my life. I just place the problem that I am facing in the part of the alcoholic. This is a tremondous help to see my part in the situation , and also others part in the same situation.

I like the book because it is very well written and gives plenty of examples. I bought it because one of my children is in an AA program and the book has given me very useful information on how to cope and be helpful to my child. Reading this makes me understand why AA is so successful.

This is a great book for anyone, not just alcoholics. I am not an alcoholic, but the steps tell anyone, how to live a good life, especially t6hose who believe in God. Agnostics who don't believe in God, there is a chapter just for you. Then you can enjoy the rest of the book.

If you are searching for the solution to any addiction, this is the book that may have very well started it all as most spiritual based fellowships base their program of recovery using The Big Book of AA. It as saved thousands of lives and could save yours.
If you have someone who is in recovery, reading it will help you explain the changes that addicts have taken in order to recover from their addictions. The 12 steps are easy, but the work behind them is what brings about the recovery.

It was nice to get this book at the price that I did. Too have the newest AA book in my collection is so great.

motivating and inspiring

I love the text as I am a recovering alkie who spent 10 days on life support in Oct 2005 after drunk driving and slamming into a parked semi @ 80 mph. The cover was torn in places, but other then that EXCELLENT.
