Synopsis Twelve-year-old twins John and Phillipa simultaneously encounter their Uncle Nimrod during an anesthesia-induced dream at their dentist's office. He instructs them to visit him in London, and along the way, they discover that they have the power to grant wishes when they accidentally make a couple vanish from a flying airplane. Nimrod explains that they're djinn, "children of the lamp...the guardians of all the luck in the universe." They journey to Akhenaten's tomb in Egypt, said to house a trapped hoard of 70 evil djinn. A curious cast of characters assist the children in their fast-paced quest to prevent the world's luck from being thrown out of balance.
When twelve-year-old twins Philippa and John discover that they are descended from a long line of djinn, their mother sends them away to their Uncle Nimrod, who takes them to Cairo where he starts to teach them about their extraordinary powers.
