This excellent documentary tries to pick the brain of America's first female serial killer. Nick Broomfield gives us a tour of her background, from when she was a child to her friends and family. The main point to this movie is to show how crazy this woman really was, and to show that she should never have been executed due to her insanity. It's also a good comparison to the movie Monster, Charlize Theron's portrayal is hauntingly accurate. You'll realize why she won an Oscar. The movie is very informative and let's us into a small part of Aileen's world with all of her conspiracy theories and crazy antics. If you've seen Monster, you must see the Real Life Monster.

Hollywood did not respect the memory of most of the men that died at the hand of Aileen. Regardless of her terrible childhood and subsequent whore for hire lifestyle, they did not deserve her as their final judge and jury. If you saw the Academy Award winning movie, you will want to see this documentary.

If you were impacted by Monster, then watch this!

If you were deeply impacted by the intensity of the film Monster with Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci, then you must view this excellent documentary about the real "Monster," Aileen Wuornos, convicted for multiple killings and executed in 2002.
Whether you think Aileen was sane or insane, a truth-teller or liar, a sociopath or a poor girl-gone-bad, you will touched by the story of her childhood, full of abuse and neglect, and you will be chilled by the interviews that British director Nick Broomfield filmed with Aileen. Broomfield crafts the entire film to remain as raw and unflinching in its view as Aileen herself is in the interviews.
As a college professor, I recommend this well-edited, thought-provoking film to anyone in the criminal justice or psychology fields and especially to those who are instructors or students of CJ or psychology.
