Remarcable animation, Americanish manga.

This is a great example of a combination of cultures into an art form. I really don't want to say how much I like it, or the reader might think its the greatest thing in the world. But I really do like it, and it is an exceptionally well written, well animated and entertaining movie. One might think what is a black man doing being a middle ages samurai, but the story and the action take place in a sort of time of its own. They fight and argue with their swords, yet there are guns of a futuristic design used. There is also the spirits, especially Afro-Samurai's 'spirit', which is part jester, part guardian angel, part spiritual adviser. The amazing thing about all this mishmash of themes and styles is that it works. One of the good things about a great movie, its the ability to make its own reality, Afro-samurai does that, in an entertaining way, both literal and visual. The colors, the angles, the action, it all points to a level above your standard manga, and in Blu-ray, its simply a treat for the eye. If you are a fan of animation at all, I highly recommend this.
