Movie Description DeMille's main production of 1920 was "suggested" by Schnitzler's play ANATOL (Schnitzler's "Traumnoville" was made into EYES WIDE SHUT by Stanley Kubrick) and boasted a large budget and big name stars. ANATOL tells the story of Anatol Spencer and his young wife Vivian. Anatol a wealthy philanderer with a penchant for fallen women, one of whom, the aptly named Satan Synne, educates Anatol in the beautiful depravity of the jazz age.
