I was introduced to this album by a sheer call of quality from numerous sources. Getting the album provided the truth of its' acclaim. The music is determinately written, the lyrics are both personal and outreaching, and the production gives the album a distinctive, but professional feel. Fans of any sort of indie rock or folk music will find something in here to love and keep.

WOW! What can I say. This CD completely blew me away. I seriously can't remember the last time I found an album that was so addicting and so challenging. It's A bittersweet masterpiece that is unlike anything I've ever heard. Just look at the list of instruments: The singing saw, wandering genie, white noise, shortwave radio and a zanzithophone just to name a few. You can't go wrong with all those goodies. Neutral Milk Hotel is the cream of the crop when it comes to Indie music and outstanding lyrics. A MUST OWN!!! 5 Gigantic stars.

After reading some of the other reviews I thought I would leave my own comment. I have to agree, this album will make you laugh and cry within the same five minutes. It has away of bringing out all the emotions that one can possibly feel within a single album. Listen to it once then do it again and then again. It will only get better, PROMISE!!!!

This is the most gut wrenching, sad, happy and illuminating experience I have ever had with one record. It's almost like going through some sort of exorcism. You'll experience overwhelming joy and incredible sadness within the span of a few minutes. It is very different and very unique...but when you finally give it a legitimate listen then it can literally change the way you hear music.
