Lolo 1 begins the Trilogy of Fantastic Puzzle Games
Review created: 06/30/08

Adventures of Lolo is a puzzle game that is both simple and complex all at the same time. This NES classic spawned two similar and highly addictive puzzle games where Lolo strategically moves blocks, shoots eggs, traps and moves enemies and collects pearls to move on to the next stage.

Each room has a "solution". Some rooms only have one way to solve them, others have multiple ways. You may spend 10 minutes on a room only to suddenly have an epiphany, smack your head and go, "Of course!"

Definitely a must have for old school NES fans.

The Lolo series was created by the same company that made the Kirby games, HAL Laboratory. The game is a series of one screen puzzle rooms that become increasingly challenging.

I had been looking to purchase the Lolo games for awhile now. I remembered that I had always enjoyed those games when I was younger. Today my grandson is learning to play. I realize the old Nintendos are considered a dinosaur, and when he gets a little older, he probably will go for the newer systems with all
the awesome graphics that technology has to offer, however I will stick to the old "dinosaur".

  Adventures of Lolo NES
Review created: 04/25/09

This game is a classic for the NES it's a fantastic puzzle game sure to put your mind to work and to get you thinking of every possible way to complete the stage. The graphics are nice and vivid and are easy on the eye with it's cartoony scenes. This game is like Kickle Cubicle another game for the NES that is a fun puzzle game. If you like puzzle games this game will not disapoint.

Okay if you like puzzle games.

It's a great puzzle game, but there's not much depth to it, and it's fairly slow-paced. A must-buy for a NES collector, however.

This video game was the start of an amazingly large collection in my life. I lost it during moving and it was probably the worst delema I have been in since I got my front tooth knocked out. Call me crazy but I feel this video game is not only entertaining but it also builds strong tactical skills. the story line is pretty cute too.

  The Adventures of LoLo
Review created: 05/07/07

I bought this game because I played it as a child and always rented it from the video store but never actually owned it, therefore I was never able to beat or finish the game. My husband and I are definitely "video game junkies" with a passion for fun. We bought the game and with eachother's help we were finally able to finish the game that I had started so many years ago.

This game is great for those individuals who like to work that very important "muscle" called the brain...it needs to be exercised as well to stay sharp. This game combines the need for strategy as well as skill to conquer the evil devil who kidnaps Princess LaLa. So if you like puzzles, strategy or just a challenge every now and then, this game is for you!

Did not leave feedback for the three items I purchase.

I think this person should leave feedback, when I purchased
three items from them, and paid by paypal. Since they
are a business, they don't seem to realize that an
individual also need the ratings.

However, this person did have a good product and I received
the items very quickly.

  The Second "Western" Eggerland Game
Review created: 12/05/06

"The Adventures of Lolo" (US: 4/20/1989, Europe: 2/21/1991) is the second game in the "Eggerland" series to be released outside of Japan, the first being "Eggerland Mystery" (Japan: 6/28/1985, Europe: 1987).

However, "The Adventures of Lolo" simply combines maps from previous Eggerland titles (i.e. "Eggerland," "Eggerland- Departure from Creation," and "Eggerland- Revival of the Labyrinth") and puts them into one 50 map game (10 floors with 5 rooms each).

As such, Japanese gamers (and those like myself who have played the Japanese games) will find this game to be a bit on the "easy" side. However, is this necessarily a "bad" thing? I will explain.

Hal Labs made this game have a "learning curve" whereby the first few "Levels" (sets of 5 maps) introduce the player to different concepts of the game. Different monsters are introduced as the game goes on, different terrains, different powers, etc. The farther you go, the more difficult the rooms get. While this is true in the Japanese games (i.e. "The Adventures of Lolo" compared to "The Adventures of Lolo 2"), the maps tend to start out at a much higher difficulty level.

Arguably, this difficulty curve will make the game a bit more playable for the average gamer. But, some gamers may be able to complete the game in a short period of time (50 stages won't take very long if you are good at solving puzzles).

This is certainly a game that I would recommend if you enjoy "puzzlers," and if you enjoy the challenge, I'd definitely recommend working your way up to "The Adventures of Lolo 2" and then to "The Adventures of Lolo 3" (which has 110 stages!).

After that, you should try importing some of the Japanese games ("Revival! Eggerland," released in 2000 for the PC, has 194 levels and a "Creation" mode!).
