Wonderful Contextual Retelling

Dunn does a wonderful job in re-telling the accounts of the famous 14th century traveller who traipsed around most of the Eastern hemisphere. The reason I really liked this book is because Dunn does a fantastic job in setting Bauttuta "in context" by laying out the political, cultural, and geographic context of each of his travel legs. It's much easier to appreciate the journeys with this kind of backdrop than in just reading a translation of the original text, which, without much context, can be positively puzzling in many regards.
