Advance Wars (Game Boy Advance, 2001)

Advance Wars in my opinon is one of the best games out for Gameboy Advance. This is one of those games that take some time to beat, I like that. Plus aside from the story mode there are many other game play options to master. Advance Wars is a great stragey game. This is one to buy and check out Advance Wars 2 and Advance Wars Duel Strike for DS. My rating is 10 out of 10

It's a classic. Turn-based strategy, reasonably easy to learn (esp. with the solid tutorial) but endlessly complex. Good stuff.

Bought over a month ago and great travel game. It is not like many other games I have beaten. This one takes awhile. But a great game to keep.

If you love strategy gaming but haven't heard about Advanced Wars you have been missing out. This is the one that started it all.

Advanced Wars for the Game Boy Advance has been hailed as one of the systems best strategy offerings. I was fortunate to get a used copy of this game on eBay as it is in short supply. You would be hard pressed to find a new copy of the game.

Anyway, I'm not a professional reviewer so if you need more information on Advance Wars you will need to Google but know that as of the time I wrote this I consider Advance Wars to be in a class of it's own, strategy-wise.

Ive owned this game before, but it left my possesion. However, not before I played it for countless hours. Its a great strategy game that I highly recomend to anyone who loves a good chess match, and even might like the whole war era feel. Tanks, Bombers, Fighters, Submarines, Infantry, Direct fighters, Indirect fighters; all these elements combine in this turn based game. You can play the main story line, kicking butt all the way to enemy lines, or test your skills in the war room, where you can pick hundreds of maps to fight on. And if that does'nt satisfy you, there are tons of unlockable features, as well as hidden alternate game endings based on players choices. The games has a variety of characters with whom you command your armies. Each character has a unique ability about them, and when thier co power meter fills up, they unleash thier power on the enemies! Advance Wars is a game with HOURS of play time; the game SCREAMS replay value. The reason: you are able to make maps yourself, with a map editor. Create challenging courses for you and a computer or you and a friend can duke it out on. You can even send maps to a friend and vice versa. Even if you only have ONE game cartridge, its STILL 2 players. Even better, with ONE game you can play with up to 4 PLAYERS.

This game is perfection, as most of the Advance Wars series is as well. I highly recomend that you purchase this, as no gameboy player should be without its experience.

This is overall my favorite thinking game of all time. I can't believe how good this handheld game is. It shines in comparison to even the next-gen console stratey games. It is pick-up-and-play, yet playable years after purchase...amazing!

Characters are pretty cartoony, but it is expected of a GBA game

More maps would be nice (less cut-scenes would allow more maps)

Bought the game because I heard good things about it, and I found out why. The strategy of your campaign, great fun in the war room, and it let's you build a map for vs. play. Plot's a little thin, but you don't really need one to get into the action. I recommend it to all persons willing to use their brains.

My son bought it and he likes it. It was very facinating to him at first just like any other new item and once you beat the game it's no longer valuable to a teenager. But overall it was good buy.

the game not only did not work, but after I contacted the seller for a refund, they never responded. Horrible experience

it is a fun and nice time filler to waste time on and it's just simply a good turn based war game. It's getting harder and harder to find and if you like any of the others in the series you should get this one too.

Don't let the Japanese sense of whimsy throw you. This game is for the turn based strategy grognard in you, not the pokemon fans. It starts out simply enough, then builds to wicked fun complexity. The game encourages and rewards tactics and strategy. When you beat the harder missions there is a real sense of accomplishment. This is the kind of game that takes a real effort to put down, even though it lets you save at any time. I can't do this game justice in a written review, it must be experienced. If you run across a copy of it, buy it. Even if it's not your speed, odds are you'll know somebody who will love it.
