Adore by Smashing Pumpkins (CD, Jun-1998, Virgin Records USA)

Less guitar, more beats, a little darker, yep, Adore scared a lot of SP fans away. As for me, it only solidified my love for Corgan's melancholy songwriting. In my opinion Corgan lost his knack for a while after Adore (Machina had it's moments) and only recently recovered with the amazing Zeitgeist. 5 Huge Stars.

I had been looking for this CD for a long time, and I couldn't find it in stores, OR in used CD stores! I figured I would look here on Ebay, and sure enough, there it was! It was a great price too. The store (PJ'S RECORDS) sent it to me with in a few days and it was in great shape. Not a scratch on it , and the case and cover was in good shape also.
I would like to add that ever since I opened an ebay account I have told EVERYONE I know to FIND IT ON EBAY! I LOVE THIS WEB SITE!

This CD, "Adore," by the Smashing Pumpkins is the most incredibly underrated CD. The music is from a time when the 'Pumpkins were peaking artistically together and, unfortunately, just before they disbanded from an apparent collective exhaustion. But this CD is an incredible testament to their artistic prowess. It is a rare find, as I searched for it at stores, new and used all over our vicinity. It is a true rare gem. I never get tired of listening to it. Each time I listen to it, it seems I find something new to appreciate on the CD in the music. I had the cassette a few years back, but lost it, so I decided to try to find it one e-Bay, and I am so glad I did! The music is even much better than I remembered!

Chose the wromg seller, an ebay powerseller who claimed 24 in stock, took my money, and when I questioned when they were shipping, they responded they were backordered with no date, they mislead buyer and had none..do not buy from
sysqsystems..
this has hapened 2 times to me and now Im not sure I got both or any refund as they claim they sent, have no proof yet, been many days since they made the claim..
Dont hate the CD, stay away from the seller - sysqsystems - BEWARE!!!

I love this album, even though it's very different than the other pumpkins albums out there. Only this group could pull off an excellent album using a drum machine. Pretty sure Billy did most of that too.. An absolute must have, not too heavy, leaves you a little uneasy and wanting more.

Adore is a solid release from the Smashing Pumpkins, but it may or may not really be for you depending on how much you like this band. If you are a fan that loved their older stuff, you really might not appreciate this album quite as much. It really isn't anything like their previous releases. Adore shifts from the previous flat-out rock to a more mellow, relaxed sound. Though Corgan's style of music changes on this release, it is solid. "Ava Adore" and "Perfect" were both radio hits and tracks like "Crestfallen", "Tear" and "For Martha" show Billy's personal side. As a Pumpkins' fan, I enjoyed this because it was just a little different, proving this band can do everything! So, if you are not a big fan of SP's earlier releases, you may want to check this out. It's still rocking, it's still the Pumpkins, but it just isn't as "in your face" as the previous releases. If you're getting into the Pumpkins, I would recommend Siamese Dream first. After that, check out Gish and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. If you still can't get enough, then I'd pick up Adore.
