ADAMS RPM 460 TI DRAW DRIVER

Bought this with the Pro Launch blue shaft, reguular flex and 11.5 degrees of loft. An easy club to hit with consistent results with every shot. I'm a 13 handicap with a low swing speed and this club hits as far as my 9.5 degree Adams Quad driver and is a lot more forgiving. I can hit this club all day out to 225 - 235 yards and even though its a high launch club I get great roll when the ball lands. I've tried all the Aldila shafts and for my game the Pro Launch is a better shaft. This driver can be had for under a $100 dollars and its worth a lot more. Adams clubs are high quality with a lot of technology at a very reasonable price.

  Adams RPM 460 Ti Driver
Review created: 05/07/09

I'll preface this by saying I am by no means an avid golfer - in fact, I'm only just now picking the sport up for the firs time in my life. That being said, I'm 24 years old and I have a lot of power behind my swing, so I wanted a big, solid driver that would allow me to be able to pound the ball a great distance.

I've used a few other 460 drivers, from Callaway Big Berthas to the Nike Sumos to $40 knockoffs from Dick's Sporting Goods, and I have to say - this club falls into the top range of the ones I've used.

A few of the pros that I've noticed:
- First and foremost, on clean, power hits I've gained an additional 30-50 yards over the knockoff Sumo 460 I was using. This is substantial, in my opinion.
- Forgiveness. I bought the 8 degree lofted version of this club, and was a bit hesitant when I saw that the lower numbers generally offered less forgiveness. . but that doesn't appear to be the case with this club: even on off-center hits, the ball seems to go pretty straight.
- Shaft appearance. I didn't realize until I got the club that the shaft is a really cool burnished copper color. It, unfortunately, doesn't match anything else in my bag. . but it really looks cool, and I haven't seen anything else like that in anyone else's bag.

Cons:
- Grips. . not a big fan of the wrapped diagonally spliced grips, where my fingers seem to get sucked into the grooves. I'm getting used to it, but everyone who's tried it has mentioned that.
- Head appearance. Not a big deal, but this club won't 'wow' your friends as far as head appearance is concerned (unlike the Nike's which just look cool. . ). This should never matter in golf, and is of little concern.

Overall I'm quite pleased with my Adams 460 Ti, and would reccomend it to anyone looking to get a nice solid big 'ol driver.

Adams RPM 460 Ti 9.5* Draw Aldila Stiff
Review created: 07/28/08

I bought 3 different Adams drivers in various configurations. This one is the set up for me. This is a really good solution for a guy who swings hard, but not really well! To clear any confusion, this is the 2006 model with the weight screwed in the sole (the draw model weight is close to the shaft; the neutral model has the weight in the back center).

First, it took a lot of the slice out of my game. Now I just hit a fade that I can manage (most of the time). Second, The Aldila stiff 65S shaft and 9.5* head provide a nice ball flight for my swing. Maybe a regular shaft would have completely got rid of the slice- I don't know- but I'm really pleased as it stands. I had a couple 10.5* clubs and hit them too high. Third, my distance is definitely longer- maybe 20 to 30 yards.

It doesn't sound the best, but WHO CARES?!! I saved a lot of strokes my last round just by keeping the ball in the fairway 80% of the time. I guess the Prolaunch shaft gives a bit higher trajectory, but that's not my need. This is a very nice set up, and I will easily resist any temptation to put a more expensive driver in my bag any time soon.

A side note- I bought a set of MacGregor M565 V-Foil irons used too. Wow! I saw just as much improvement with the irons. They are a fantastic set. I picked up a matching 2-iron separately and can even hit it well.

Between the driver staying in play and the irons hitting farther and more accurately, I'll bet I dropped 8 to 10 strokes off my round, just for spending about $200 total... Nice value.
