missed the mark

First let me say that i consider LeeHammond to be the finest art instructor I ever ran across. The old Walt Fosterbooks were art instruction of the heres what i did .look upon my perfection and aspire type... so that you could puzzle out there meanings.. absolutely worthless for learning technique for the most part, they were all we had. Lee Hammonds book on How to change Photogrphs into drawings(lifelike portraits from photographs) is the best how to draw book on the market...It s well written, light, entertainig and so informative that it should be on every aspiring or accomplished artists book shelf. This instruction book for acrylics is not in the same league. It has occasional flashes from lee but for the most part the excerpts from her earlier works are poorly placed and easily missed.I expectd the subject to be exhaustively explored, instead i got a surface treatment... i expected works by students showing her techniques functioning...there were none...i expected the same briliance, polish and acumen i had seen in her work before...this one was phoned in.
