Across The Universe: Music From The Motion Picture (CD, Sep-2007, Interscope Records USA)

I was 14 when the Beatles touched our shores. Their entire, though too shortened career as a group, was moving, inspiring and full of enjoyment. This movie, "Across the Universe" brings back continued memories of their talented music making and lyrics. The DVD movie is a must purchase. And now this CD soundtrack will compliment the experience as I can now listen and sing along while driving on my long trips. Do I prefer hearing the Beatles doing their own songs more? You Betcha! However, the performers in the movie and this soundtrack are excellent singers in their own right. For me it would be difficult not to enjoy anyone decent doing a Beatle's number. Their music will stand till the end of time. George & John, I Miss You, We All Miss You ............

I still remember the first time I read anything about the Beatles. It was in a magazine in the Autumn of 1963, and, after reading the article, I knew this group would be one to watch.

I have been a Beatles' fan for 55 years, and own several of their albums on vinyl and CD.

Although it is a good film, "Across the Universe" is a rehash of the 60s with Beatles' music as the sound track. However, what it does is to provide a CD with many of the great Beatles' hits on one CD. These are covers by members of the film's cast, but they are excellent covers. I was disappointed that Eddie Izzard's incredible version of "Mr. Kite" wasn't included, but you can't have everything. This CD is a good investment for any unrepentent Beatles fan who wants to put on one CD and sit back and enjoy the music.

Bought this item for a coworker for Christmas. She was so pleased. When she unwrapped it she jumped up and down, just so happy that someone was anle to find it for her. She was always talking about how she wanted the soundtrack, and now she has it

I'm 64; when the Beatles hit I had just started college. It is hard to think of Beatles music as classic. Classic music is 50 years old or more...uh oh...2008 minus 1961???? Hmmmm? Classic is Sammy Cahn, Oscar Hammerstein, not John, Paul, George and Ringo...is it? Actually YES. The Beatles song and arrangements have been given new scoring here, assembled in a mixture of Sgt. Pepper's and Magical Mystery tour. It has been done by people who (1) know what they are doing, both technically and artistically, and (2) people who respect this music. As my son says, "This was Dad's music; that doesn't make it BAD music". As his father I say, "Whaddaya mean "Bad MUSIC"???? It was fleepin' Great music and still is" The album has relevant-to-the-period songs that are usually thoughtful and the performances still delight the ear. I hope to see the movie some day. In essence, this is a fresh look (using the ears as eyes) at the classic beatles' tunes and, with appropriate amplification and speakers can still 'shake the dust from the rafters' if that is what you like. For mid-sixties folk who remember the day, a nice way to get in touch with our youth again, however brief it may be.

The movie was amazing, from the begining it is infused with a freshness and the beauty of life. The beatles greatest songs provide insperation to this energetic and mind expanding film and the soundtrack was fantastic. The artistic beauty of the picture and shots as well as the incredible new soundtrack featuring the shows cast singing many of the beatles greatest songs -- This soundtrack makes you want to stand up and cheer. Three cheers for Jude and Lucy, this is an amazing love story...

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE MOVIE AND HAD TO HAVE THE SOUNDTRACK. I CAN'T WAIT TO PURCHASE THE DVD ONCE IT IS RELEASED. I HAVE TOLD ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY THEY HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE.

Great Soundtrack CD. I would suggest getting the CD with all the tracks. This one is a good representation but if you loved the movie as much as my family did, you will want/NEED all the songs. The movie was awesome and the original presentation of the songs will help you enjoy them at a whole new level.

Though my husband and I loved the movie, he did not want to go a second time. I was able to buy an affordable DVD offered on ebay and I can watch and listen to this nostalgic yet modern day version of the music and events of the 60's.The seller sent me a perfect condition DVD and sent it quickly!

If you're a Beatles fan, than you'll love this soundtrack. It's not the Beatles but it's kind of cool to hear their music in different ways sometimes. I loved the movie (if you like musicals). I really want the movie if it comes out on video.

All the beatles music is well redone. Not a general remix. It was a great overall experience. It relived the movie.

I love the movie and wanted to just have ALL of the songs. Well this does not have them. It has a few songs that are not in the movie and some of my favorite songs from the movie are left out. I don't think it is worth the money.

We have not seen a great musical movie since Grease #1, and Across the universe was a great show, although the album doesn't have all of the songs from the movie, it definately has most of them. The Soundtrack is a great addition to anyones collection. Positively a good buy!

I personally have not seen the movie but my parents have and they really wanted the sound track so I decided to surprise them and get it for them =) The LOVE it!!!

I loved all of the different versions of the Beatle's most popular songs! This movie and the sound track were absolutely incredible! It took my love of the Beatle's music to a whole new level.
