AR Known as reliable in Audio the AW-722 - no exception

I do not think I have ever read a product review without some negative reviews, if you did, it was on the company’s website. Like Olympic Scoring throw out the highest and lowest scores/reviews and you’ll have something in the middle, much like these headphones.
If you think for the money you will pay that you are getting the best on the market, bottom line, you are not. But for the money you will pay, you should not be disappointed, in comfort, style and performance.
The AR AW-722 replace my Advent Wireless Unit, which was also a nice middle of the road pair that I got many years of satisfactory use from and coincidentally made by the same parent company of Acoustic Research, which would be Thomas – who also make Jenson and RCA.
I agree with the other reviews I have read there is some occasional static, which can be minimized by proper placement of the base unit. Oddly, and this happened with the Advent as well, there seems to be no rhyme or reason for the static as you can be 10’ or 100’ and just turn your head a certain way. Now I am sure there is an actual scientific explanation based upon the internal antenna or the like, but is not annoying enough to care about – adjust your head a few centimeters and problem solved.
A nice feature that these have is that the recharge connection is now contactless, just set them in the cradle and they are good to go. I hated having to remember to ‘plug’ the Advent in. Side note on this item though, I do not use my headphones a lot, maybe for an hour or two every week late at night so as not to bother my wife while I finish a movie or the news. With the old pair I used to worry about overcharging and for this reason and had them plugged into the ‘switched’ plug on my stereo as it was on frequently enough to keep them charged. It seems that if the base unit is not powered on the AR and the head phones are cradled they can discharge back through the charging base?!? So I had to make sure the base is on a full time powered plug/unswitched. The AR fortunately has a more advanced charging unit and will hopefully maximize the life and use of the battery
Last note on wireless speaker products, if you are noticing some new unusual problems with reception and product function, you probably have maxed out the usefulness of your rechargeable batteries.
