Acer AL1916 A 19 inch LCD Monitor

I have a system with (4) Acer AL1916 monitors and one of them needed to be sent to Acer for an RMA after 2 years of use. I decided to buy one as a spare from eBay. Monitors have an excellent consistency of display between all 4 of them The colors, brightness, sharpness and other visual goodies are identical between the 5 monitors. The one that came back from Acer is just as clear as all the others. It took Acer 2 weeks to turn around the repair. EXCELLENT. I recommend this model because of the features and the price.

The price was right and it does work. DOes have some bright spots on the screen likely due to a dirty backlight reflector as stated in the ad. No surprises and its something IM sure I can fix easily.

This display is bright and has more than adequate resolution for any application. Unit is lightweight, has a builtin power supply and on screen controls which are easy to use.

I purchased it to replace a 17" LCD monitor which was 5 years old and showing signs of unreliable operation. The new unit was only 7 months old and never registered. Therefore I registered it and have the remainder of a three year warranty.

The only thing I don't like is the power saver feature. Have been unable to turn the display off via the computers power control programs. The support people at Acer refered me to the computer maker-video card maker. The main power switch is a poor design and does not override the power saver function.
I added an external power switch which does the job.

These are great little (if you can call 19" little) monitors. Standard 4:3 aspect ratio. I have 3 of them in my lab and have supplied 3 more to clients. VGA D-Sub only, so if you're looking for DVI or HDMI, this is not the monitor for you. The power supply is internal, which is both a blessing (no brick to clutter things up) and a curse (if the power supply fails as one of mine did, you're stuck with a dead monitor with no option to buy a replacement AC adapter) The good news is that Acer will honor their Mfg warranty and fix it if it's still under warranty. Of the 6, I've not had even one dead pixel and the 5ms response if more than quick enough for most games and DVD action movies (standard aspect recommended, unless you want black bars top and bottom). Remember, these are basic LCD monitors, so the only adjustment you get is tilt... no height or swivel. They are VESA mounting compliant, though, so if you want to mount it on an arm or wall mount, you can.
