Originally released in 2007 and reissued two years later by Universal Motown, ABSOLUTES is the major-label debut of the Seattle-based alternative-rock band Barcelona. Drawing on the sweeping sound of acts such as Coldplay and Keane, the trio, fronted by singer/keyboardist Brian Fennell, excels at emotive mid-tempo tunes, as best evinced on the dramatic "It's About Time."
