AT&T 5800 5.8 GHz 1-Line Cordless Expansion Handset

I bought this item in order to add an extension to my current phone system. This cordless extension is the best. It has a very long range, a very strong signal and never drops a call. The sound is crystal clear, has volume adjustment, caller ID, speaker phone, headset to headset paging,a belt clip and you can even use an ear piece for handsfree usage. It holds all your contact numbers.This phone does everything but walk your dog. Or maybe I have'nt figured that out yet. I've probably missed some other options. And best of all, it's extremely user friendly. Even a cavewoman can learn to use it.

i've owned my 5840 base and 3 extra handheld for six years and its been great we have had difficulty with cordless reception out in the country and also lose power out here in the country alot so this is why we got this 5.8ghz well my child lost one headset i think it got throwing in garbage by accident because we paged it to find it and never could. Well i ordered a REPLACEMENT and it's NOT THE SAME as the original. the back light on screen is dark and hard to read and also lights up green, the original lights up blue and bright very easy to read. before you purchase find out about the screen display and what color it lights up. i just thought it would be the same well what a BIG disappointment if it was like the rest i would love it. Need know what your buying.

I have 3 handsets of this system in operation. One, after 6 years develped a problem with the "OF" button and I purchased a replacement on Ebay. It is working well. Another's battery had begun to fail and I purchased several batteries in anticipation of other failures. The replacement battery is charging fine. I hook a handset onto my belt when Igo out to work in the yard.

My 8 year old grandson dropped one of my 2 phone hand sets and the screen became unusable. The phone worked, but I could not read the screen any longer. No doubt it was an accident, so I went on line to E-Bay to get a replacement. It was new in the origional box as advertized, and arrived as promissed. I couldn't be more pleased, especially since my grandson has no idea that he had broken the phone. I kept it a secreat.

The phone seems to be exactly as described. I had trouble getting it to recognize my system but then discovered that the battery and charger were really the only things I needed so have not actually used the phone.

I ordered this phone because I wanted a dependable addition to my existing system of three stations at a reasonable price. The phone arrived with a non-working battery and without a charging base and it is obviously a much older model that has some features that are OK. After much email with the seller, I returned the battery and he replaced it with a proper one. Next time I would pay more to avoid this kind of siituation.

I needed to ge additional handsets for my ATT 5800 phone. The price was very good and the handsets that were sent were in as new condition. I received them in a few days after buying them. I will buy from this seller again.

Even though it indicates that it is compatible with the base unit that I own, they do not work. I asked help from a electronics person and I was told that the battery supplied didn't work and the phone was not recognized by the base. The entire purchase was a waste. I purchased two phones from this seller and both were duds.

I have 1 base & 3 additonal phones for this set. One charger stopped working. Glad I was able to just replace the charger. Works great!

I've had a base and expansion phone for years and recently moved. Was shocked that I could find additional expansion phones to help cover my new home. I ordered them and connected them up in less than 5 minutes and they were ready to go. Easy to use and the phones I have had have been working flawlessly for years. I had the choice of a new system or adding new expansion sets. The quality made this an easy decision.

I did think this was going to be a new handset, it was not new but it works OK. Unless you know exactly what to do to get the handset programed to connect to your base unit you will have a problem because they do NOT send you a manual with the handset!

Ease of use and features. Was easy to program and add to existing system. So far has functioned with no problems. I have used AT&T 4800 phones for four years with satisfaction.

This unit from the seller did not work with the base station I had; the seller's response was to give some attempt at fixing the problem I had already found on another internet site, which did not work. Also the batteries sent on both units I ordered did not hold a charge. Other units I have work with the base unit, but not these which are the identical unit. The seller's response was "Sorry" no refund; no replacement; do not buy from him.

Product was in good condition and is already being used. It arrived promptly and was well packed. Would definitely use this vendor again.

I have an ATT 5800 ( or close) answering machine and these handsets tend
to break ( this is my fourth one).

they are quite compicated to get working with your old base,
their are ID #'s, and registration that is quite complicated
especially when it doesn't work as it should. Troubleshooting is
nearly impossible.

I love how these phones sound ( good audio) but if you think you will
buy one a replacement handset, charge it and use it, you may have some
frustrating "electronics" times ahead.

why do they have to make it so deep and complex..it's exactly what people do not
want in home electronics..more menu's, options and bugs.

I like the options on the AT&T cordless expansion handset:
clock on the handset,speakerphone,redial,memory,volume control,keypad volume, keypad tone.All of these and more on each handset, I have four in use now.

The 5800 has been very reliable.I have owned several other brands, but by far the AT&T 5800 has been the best.The price was higher than I wanted to pay but the reliability was top of my list followed by the speaker phone capability, and the options I liked outweighed the cost.
