I like that the Asus is windows based pocket size PDA..which has mobile word, excel and powerpoint...The downside in my opinion is that the unit needs to have a stronger wi-fi signal and a faster internet connection...However..I feel it was well worth the money paid...

  Long lived PDA

I had bought this gadget especially for long day walking in cities.
I have Bluetooth GPS receiver and I use it for trace my pededtrian's experience.
Toshiba G900 I'd used before ASUS A626 lived only for 3-4 hours when I turn on Bluetooth on it and connect to GPS. But Toshiba is a phone and I don't want to stay without communications.
So I have bought this ASUS and first day I walked it had showed very great performance - 6 hours, 31 kilometers, permanent bluetoothing and 40% of battery capacity had left! Excellent! I have bought a jumbo (2600 MAh) battery on the eBay just after buying ASUS and I'm not shure I'll use it at all - such great running time have A626.
Yet another thing I buy A626 is reading. I like to read in the bed in full dark for 20-30 minutes just before sleep. Level of brightness of the screen is very comforting, not mention to running time again (up to 24 hours of reading).
Pro:
Metal front, wide diapason of brightness of screen, good keys, good navi key, excelent running time, really working WiFi, bluetooth, fresh version of WM6, 256 MB of internal flash.

Contra:
screen resolution is 320 to 240, but angles are ok.
no GPS, but there are buch better external GPS than any ones in PDA or phone.
slow processor (312 MHz), but my applications do not require more faster processor.

So, I like pros and indifferent to contras. And you?

Awesome unit, Connections simple everything is great. I thought I had a problen when the screen stopped displaying. I called Asus and had a tech on the line in only a couple minutes whe knew immediatley the "Hold" button was on. Why they would name a button "Hold" that would cancel the display (to save energy during music playback) is beyond me but the bottom line is rectification was instant.

I am using Outlook Business Contact Manager with it and I love it.

Anthony

  Asus A626 Win-Mobil 6

The Asus A626 is an Awesome pocket PC. I decided to buy it because I wanted some thing that was not too expensive but was also not ancient. It has an excellent interactive features and layout. As well and a nice bright screen, and a battery that lasts about a week with normal use. But buyers beware the SD-card reader will not accept SDHC over 2GB with out a patch and with the patch you are still limited to 4GB. also the organization features in the win-mobile media player are very lacking. Also the wireless internet has a very short range but that is to be expected for such a small device.

overall I would buy this product again the calender and note pad are intgergral to my scheduling now. =)

I bought the ASUS MyPal A626 as it had just the features I wanted, and I did not want my phone/PDA to be combined. The Windows ME 6.x OS syncs easily with both my work Outlook account and my internet email accounts. Setting up the wireless was a breeze and it seemed quick to update email and contacts. Browsing is a bit tedious for me, as it is for any device with a small screen. The battery life is amazing, and along with the stainless steel construction (Hard Plastic back) I hope to have this for a long time.

Are you or your spuose a list maker? If you are your gonna love it. MY wife has thanked me every day since I got it for her. Spends hours organizing her life on it. Be a HERO and buy it for your favorite list maker. It is basically a mini Pc, she even plays flash games on it.

This PDA has been working well. However, the ActiveSync had to be updated for PC to PDA link to work correctly. Files need to be unzipped on PC first as PDA does not support this. Internet updates have been easy to perform. I down loaded ebook and a dictionary with PocketPC Microsoft Reader and both have a good format for PDA. PDF files can be convered to PDA format with options for Mobipocket Reader. Programs starting and file loading has been quick. The internet sharing and internet connection have been a problem. My intent is to use it with a database lookup feature to access needed data.

  Didn't need a phone.
Review created: 12/09/09

Look, I have a phone thats just a phone. I like it, it serves me well. I wanted a pda that was just a pda too. I certainly got it with the ASUS A626. I love it. It works great with all my Microsoft documents and spreadsheets. I can look something up on Google if I need to and it takes ok pictures. If I am in a bind for some strange reason I could use SKYPE to make a call I guess.

  MyPal A626
Review created: 10/05/09

I purchased the Asus MyPal A626 as a portable solution to access the web other than my laptop. The A626 works well as a pda however it is less than I expected to access the web. Yes the A626 will get you onto the web from Wifi sites however the experience is less than satisfactory. The content that you are able to see and use is basic at its best. Webpages display a little differently than they do wit a laptop. The A626 will not display video or sound from the web. The A626 was Asus's first pda with wifi internet. Subsequent model releases might have fixed the browser's shortcommings.

For the money I paid, I am very happy with this product

I got this for 100 bucks on ebay and it provides almost everything I was looking for in a PDA. The battery lasts for days and the screen is bright enough so I can even use it in bright sun light. The only complain i have is that the wirless connection is a bit slow and unstable sometimes if you are not close to the wireless router.
