A-Z of Smocking by Country Bumpkin Publications (2000, Paperback)

This is a great reference book for smocking stitches. It has excellent photographs of stitches. It has additional smocking information that is a great resource. It is something hat every serious smocker should have in their library.

I bought the A to Z Smocking book because I own other A to Z books in the series which are all beautifully photographed, well-explained instructions, with additional sweet antique pictures in it along with the instructions, just to add interest. It is a compact book, yet the smocking photography of where to pit the needle in the cloth, just so, are big enough to see clearly. The book makes another keepsake for the entire A to Z series that I will really use as a reference book since I know how to smock. For an avid smocker of children's clothes, ornaments, pillows, etc. it is a keepsake; for the novice, it provides clear step-by-step instructions. I amost gave it away as a gift decided to keep it. I enjoy looking at it as much as I appreciate using its useful information.

I am fairly new to smocking, and decided to add this to my books to help with learning. LOVE it. It is very thorough in touching all aspects of smocking. I will definately recommend this to anyone who needs help starting, or even those who just occassionally need a reminder of a technique. Two thumbs up!
