They wear the right clothes, drive the right cars, and get into just enough trouble to be rebellious. Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore) is the opposite--there doesn't seem to be anything cool about her. The preacher's daughter, plain Jamie wears big boxy dresses and the same sweater every day. She endures the scorn of Landon and his friends with a smile, always looking for the best in people. When a prank planned by Landon and his friend goes terribly wrong, the principal sentences him to tutoring on the weekends and working on the school play, activities in which Jamie is involved. As the two begin spending time together, Landon finds himself intrigued by this guileless girl who sees beauty in everything and exhibits unwavering faith in people and in the world. When circumstances beyond Landon and Jamie's control threaten their love, he stays by her side and does everything he can to make her dreams come true. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks, the film also stars Peter Coyote and Daryl Hannah.

I really only watched this movie because my daughter put it on while I was visiting, because I considered myself definintly not the SAPPY type. I was wrong. I have watched this dvd 12 times since the first time, and I have cried each and every time. Not just for the loss of Landon, but for the joy of what selfless love and truly believing in something can do in life. This dvd brought back a feeling of wanting to be the best person I could be instead of just being what is exspected of me. I relize now that I once felt that way about life and somewhere along the way I lost it , and didn't even know I had lost it, and although I wasnt exactly happy, I wasnt unhappy either, I was ...... just going through the motions. This dvd reminded me how people with faith and selfless caring about others are really the most luckiest and truly happiest in their hearts and make their days here on earth count. I found out that I would rather be the best person I can be for a very short time here on earth, rather then live on earth for a long long time the way I have been for to long now. I can honestly say..I think by watching "A Walk to Remember" , that it saved my heart and soul from shutting down completely. I have never wrote a review befor, and probably never will again, but I wanted to share with anybody out there that dosnt know they've lost something, but walks now with indifference to life, please take a moment and pick up this movie, I promise it will wake up your heart and soul and make you remember the way you once walked and the feeling of being the best person you can be. If there is anything I didn't like about this movie, its only that it also reminded me of how many there are of us that are lost and dont know it, and Im so thankful that Im not one of them anymore. I kept my hunny up telling him about the whole movie and how Ive just got to get it. You can read what it's about by clicking more information, but it doesn't even touch the surface. I never really cared for Mandy, but after seeing this movie, I dont think they could have picked a better person. The actors worked beautifully together. It's not just for teenagers (Altho this day in age - I think this could be good for learning that theres more than Violence/sex/profanity in the world.) I dont know if this review helps, and Im only one opinion, but if Love, Kindness, Romance, Sweetness, and at least a little bit of faith do it for you, This is the movie for you. There's no sex/sexuality. So anyone looking for it, you won't find it here. I don't think it would be suitable for children, as I dont think they would find it interesting in the least bit. If that doesn't help...take this into consideration. Not many are being sold here on Ebay. More people are keeping it. And the ones that are being sold, don't sell for Pennies. I saw it on TV for the first time, and ever since have been trying to buy it on here. I can't get it for under $8.00 total used! Everyone wants it. So, it must be at least good, right? Unfortunately, the movie failed to deliver the same emotional effect as the book. Some parts of the plot have been changed, and for the worse. The storyline is touching, but the acting could have been better. You'll probably enjoy this film once, then never have to see it again. Read the book! I didn't feel for the characters as much as I would've liked to, and the setting was far more modern than that of the book. The book is at least ten times better. I recommend it before I recommend this movie. Review ID: 10000000000722390 Was this review helpful?
