I teach this book to my ministry training class at church. I was taught from this book years ago and I love it! It is one of the most scripturally sound surveys I have ever read. Not only do you gain a great understanding of the Old Testament context, geography, and theology; you also gain a greater and deeper hunger for the Word of God. Every student of the Bible should read and re-read this book. I am going through it for the 5th time by teaching it to others! I highly recommend and thank the authors for their diligent study and research in putting this masterpiece together!

Right from the Intro, Hill and Walton express their conviction that it is essential to understand the originally intended meaning of the original human author in order to hear the Voice of God in the text. This allows God's people to come closer to Him, and their is no substitute. THe book fulfills its goals, giving scholarly, detailed analyses of the authorship, themes, message, purpose and date of each book of the OT.
