Album Notes
A.R.E. Weapons: Matt McAuley, Brain F. McPeck.
Additional personnel: Thomas Bullock (keyboards, drums).
Electroclash pioneers A.R.E. Weapons' debut features an abundance--even a cacophony--of retro-electro beats, fat old-school synths, treated vocals, and heavy guitars. Unabashedly a product of its time, the duo's music might not transcend the trappings of a faddish genre as much as be a byproduct of it. Nevertheless, their debut remains a fascinating document of the ephemeral New York hipster scene of the early 2000s.
