A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle (2005)

I read this book Before reading the "The Power Of Now" & had no problems in understanding what Eckhart Tolle is sharing. I bought the book also on CD so I can listen to it while driving as a review of sorts which I've enjoyed doing.

I just can't put into words what this has done for me. I now live in a more Peaceful & Loving place. There is no need for the constant sick mind chatter or judgments anymore that can literally drive you insane. Eckhart's words are simple & straight to the point & I found them very easy to understand. I've had so many moments while reading this book where I just thought to myself Finally I Get It!!

You will read or hear of those who say Eckhart & even Oprah now are evil. I feel that the Only thing evil is in those who Want to see & find evil! And they will find it & manifest it in their lives or try to manifest it in Others lives.
Evil is found In those who secretly Want Evil & speak of it constantly!

I read one of the comments about this book & it brought up Bible quotes & in turn was comparing Eckhart to the Christ/Profit?
That is just Twisted Sick & Disturbing!
Eckhart quotes the Bible, Jesus, & quotes other faiths. He says he does not see himself as a profit of any means. And I do not see him as such. He is a Human Being just like all of us who has shared his thoughts. If you have a closed mind & do not want to grow then stay in the place you are & stop spewing Hatred.

I hope everyone who decides to get this book Enjoys it as much as I have & we can Work Together for a Peaceful World!
Where's the evil in that I ask??!!

This is a great book! I think that his first book, "The Power Of Now" should be read before you read this one. This book combined with the first book can transform you life, and will teach you to see things in a new light.

Life changing! Heard about it from the oprah Show.

Tolle, while quoting Jesus and the Bible, is a disciple of Maharishi not Jesus.
First, like Maharishi, Tolle’s religion is a form of Hinduism. His teaching come from the Upanishads, the concluding portions of the Vedas (the oldest Hindu scriptures). The Upanishads contain the essence of Vedic teaching and are the foundation of present day Hinduism.

For the sake of simplification we can think of Hinduism as running along two primary tracks. There is a ritualistic form of Hinduism and a philosophical form of Hinduism. Tolle is following in the philosophic tradition of Hinduism and the teachings derived from the Upanishads.

These Vedas teach that all men can achieve the divine state if they strive for it
Tolle’s emphasis on the “ego” is not about what most people assume. Most people assume that by “ego” he means pride, arrogance and selfishness. That is not at all the point of Tolle. Getting over the ego, to Tolle, is a denial of the individual personality and becoming “one with the consciousness.”

The Upanishads also teach that the body is the prison house of the soul and any idea of a resurrection and an eternal union of body and soul is rejected. There is no place for the idea of the resurrection. What is Tolle’s view on life, death and the afterlife? Is it compatible with the teachings of Christ? Tolle confeses his belief in reincarnation not resurrection!

What Tolle teaches is nothing like what Christ taught. Further, what Tolle teaches about Jesus Christ, God, sin, human nature, salvation, heaven and hell are nothing like what the Bible teaches.

Tolle obviously is an evangelist of Hinduism and a disciple of Maharishi. He is not only propagating his teaching he is using Maharishi’s methodology of making Hinduism palatable for Westerners in general and Christians in particular, he is seeking to co-opt Christianity and make it merely a sect of Hinduism. His target audience is Westerners who have some form of Christianity.

Oprah, who professes some sort of Christianity, has become his biggest supporter. Her Webinar, and book club promotion is quickly allowing this prophet of false a platform to pull in the gullible.


What Jesus said is coming to pass before our very eyes:

Many will come in my name, saying “I am the Christ,” and will deceive many…then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many…Then if anyone says to you, “Look, here is the Christ!” Or , “There!” do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect…therefore, if they say to you, “Look, he is in the desert!” do not go out; or “Look, He is in the inner rooms!” do not believe it. Matthew 24:5,11, 23, 24, 26 NKJV

This is a must read for every person that has mind and has a thought within! To what? To every thought that enters you mind, this book awakens you to feel and understand your thoughts for every moment in time. You will truly be awakened! Read and enjoy every moment, of every day, of every second of the rest of your life! Do you want everlasting happiness? Read It!!!

An audiobook read by the author is a great thing to hear before reading the book.
A more immediate understanding then comes through the printed words.

In terms of Christianity, Eckhart has committed the unpardonable sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit of God and Jesus when he claims our spirits or "inner body" are now the Holy Spirit of God.
It is not. It is God's creation, however, and you can feel THAT power just like splitting the atom yielded the atomic bomb (Energy holding Creation together).
Indeed, if we already had the Holy Spirit of God built into the human being, then Pentecost - the arrival of the Holy Spirit among the brethren - need not have happened. But it did, so we are not the Holy Spirit of God!

My girlfriend highly recommended the book to me since it was on the Oprah show. I am visually impaired, so I needed to purchase the audio version. I found it on e-bay - it was sensibly priced compared to the store, I got it very quickly and was very pleased with my new purchase. There is nothing that I disliked about it at all. I check e-bay first no matter what I am shopping for.

I bought this because I started reading the book but my lifestyle leaves little time to read. I am on the road a lot and found this a faster, therefore better, method to learning and transforming my life. It is easy to listen to and when I pick up the book now I highlight for reference. For me both the book and the cds are a must.

Eckhart Tolle, in his own voice, reads from his astonishing book "A New Earth." With simple yet profound logic, he guides the reader through a peaceful, yet life-changing process in which old paradigms are inspected and discarded and new, incredibly powerful principles are revealed in a most joyful and empowering manner.

I loved this book, and was delighted when my husband listened to it on a recent business trip and came home with a greatly improved outlook on life. As a result of listening to these CD's and discussing the application of Tolle's principles in our lives, I can honestly say we not only get along with each other better, our businesses have prospered and we are actually better people on this planet.

I am grateful to Tolle for writing this in such an accessible way. The content is priceless. The only downside (to me) was that his voice is so soothing that at times I found myself distracted by other thoughts and had to rewind and listen to a given section again. My husband had the opposite reaction: to him, if he had read it, instead of hearing the author's voice, it would not have been as profound.

I highly recommend this book. The more people exposed to Tolle's fascinating and brilliant ideas, the better off our planet will be!

If you are open to it..... it is absolutely worth exploration!!! The content is often hard to wrap ones mind around however what I beleive is the turest form of awareness and awakening. THX

The Power of Now helped change my life and the way I looked at other people and myself. I wanted to share Eckhart Tolle with a friend. It is a life changing book if you practice what it says.

Life changing, the best audio book I have ever purchased.
Everyday I look at life different, I appreciate people and know why I do the things I do, and stop and think before I do anything that would effect myself or family. I live in the moment now, never in the past.

I think the book is probably very good, but the audio CD is horrible. The author is hard to understand (very strong German accent) at times a quite boring at times. He should have had someone else narrate. I will say this, he is brilliant other than that.

I am so excited I have listened to the book. It is wonderful! There is nothing I dislike about it, I want to listen to it again and I will soon. It is very uplifting!

A daunting report on the place humans occupy in the universe. It makes one want to immediately quit his/her job and contemplate awareness for a living. Everything we know doesn't matter and everything we aren't aware of is the most important. Darn, that makes it tough. Seriously, one wonders why something so purportedly natural is so far gone from human's inclinations. I'm just glad he didn't say that we one must be the witness to the witness of our thoughts. Ultimately, I do think that it would be considerably easier to be aware and still if I won the lottery. Does that mean I'm lost cause? Ok, how about if I won the lottery "NOW?"

I LOVE EVERY WORD HE SPEAKS..............A GURU FOR OUR TIMES. HE BRINGS NEW MEAN TO GENERATIONS WHO HAVE BEEN LOST IN THE TEACHINGS FROM RELIGIONS WITH DOGMAS AND RULES THAT ROB THE SOUL BREATHING ROOM....................HE IS A REFRESHING RAY OF HOPE FOR ALL OF US TO UNDERSTAND GOD'S TRUE INTENT

While reading this book in the beginning may be somewhat difficult (difficult to comprehend) if one reads on, it gets easier and easier and you will then want to go back to something you didn't understand in the beginning for another look and then you will see it with greater clarity.
A New Earth is a profound look at the inner self and the areas that we may choose to see differently once we have read the book. It proposes an interconnectedness with all beings on the planet and a peace that is possible for all of us.
Wonderful book. Excellent, albeit challenging read.

Excellent CD that takes you to a journey of your inner self. Would recommend this to anyone ready for it.

If you have read The Secret then you will love and understand this even more. I have read and studied The Secret and I am only half way through this book and I now understand more about my live and why I am and act the way I do now as I am an adult.

Tolle's book is thought provoking and an excellent way to spend time in a media driven worlk with lots of poor choices.

The author, Eckhart Tolle, has an amazing insight of the human condition, both as an individual and collectively. The gently probes the differences in thinking between the ego and the spiritual side of each one of us. This book is a MUST for anyone who is interested in expanding their spiritual dimensions. Eckhart Tolle is truly one of my gurus. I work with recovering alcoholics seeking their spiritual path, and I have recommended this book to each one of them. This is definitely one spiritually expanding book.
