Keep it Simple—Keep it for Life!

As Rodney Yee says, it's better to do 20 minutes of yoga every day than to do 60 minutes once a week. That's what this DVD is about.
Beginners, don't be swayed by the negative reviews here, you are on the right path. These routines are easy to follow as presented by Walden and Yee, require few props, & reflect the stillness & simplicity of yoga's philsophy.
I once made a daily practice of the routines on this DVD, only to cut back to one routine per day, & now regret that I allowed the DVD to gather dust on the shelf for a few years.
I only took it (& other Gaiam DVD routines) up again briefly to help my dance instructor during my 3-yr Ballroom, Latin, and Country & Western dance phase (Note: yoga & meditation is the very best thing for dancers—especially if you're at competion level—it will help you with focus, visualization, strength, & flexibility, all the things you need to succeed—and it will help you stretch to avoid injury, even if you're not competing).
Years of stress due to "office politics" in a unionized gov't administration (with a union who always had "more important" things to do than support their membership, especially when I needed them most), & workplace bullying by insecure managers, supervisors, & co-workers who couldn't deal with my positive work ethic & the positive feedback I received from the Directors I was supporting, have finally taken their toll.
I now have painful Osteoarthritis in my neck and spine in the wake of my difficulties at work and 7 rear-impact motor vehicle accidents over 14 yrs (the last in '05). My vehicle was already stopped (usually at an intersection) when each occured & I followed the required courses of treatment to the letter in each case (physio, chiro, & GTT accupuncture by my chiro). None however, was as emotionally or physically beneficial as yoga & meditation likely would have been.
I am slowly taking up my daily practice of yoga & meditation again, which I'm not finding easy in my current state of mental and physical exhaustion. However, I have no choice if I want to live to see my two little grandchildren grow up—the Celebrex my doctor put me on for the arthritis has ravaged my stomach, to the point of causing anemia.
To my detriment, I didn't listen to the man I met at a trade show last fall who told me what that drug would do based on his and others' experiences & I thought that I certainly had more than 6 months. Besides, I was enjoying the pain relief too much.
I had also forgotten that yoga & meditation would have done a far better job of relieving my pain & job stress without this life-threatening side effect. Now I know—never take the easy way out—it's never worth it!
Rodney Yee is right—even if you only do ONE of these workouts every day, keep it up for the rest of your life! You don't need to complicate things with something better, different, more challenging, or more exotic from the boundless variety and different types of yoga out there, or do a lengthy 60-minute routine. Keep it simple, just like these so you will memorize it (I was fortunate to get the CD version from Gaiam just as it went out of stock forever) and stay with it.
I didn't, because I got busy and tired and thought I was too busy to fit my practice in anymore—that was my biggest mistake!
No matter what's going on in your life, you MUST find a way to fit 20 minutes of yoga & meditation in every day. Not only will it change your life, it will SAVE your life!
