| Movie Description Robert DeNiro stars in his directorial debut as Lorenzo Anello, a dutiful father and blue-collar bus driver from the harsh New York City borough of the Bronx whom tries desperately to keep his son Calogero from surrendering to the temptation of organized crime. When Calogero witnesses Mafia kingpin Sonny (Chaz Palminteri) commit murder, he decides to honor the "code of the streets" and offers no information to the cops when interrogated. Consequently, a friendship is forged between Sonny and Calogero, and--against his father's wishes--the young man joins the Mafia. Calogero respects his father, though can not seem to shake his new lifestyle, but when push comes to shove it is his father who must confront the mob and save his son's life, leaving Calogero to re-examine the magnitude of his father's honest work ethics.

Cover a broad range of social issues, a Bronx Tale still manages to be a hardcore gangster film, complete with a Boss and rival factions! Robert DeNiro directs the film, and as his firstion direction, makes quite a mark on the movie world! Enjoyable actors and never a dull scene. Very very good movie that covered a multitude of family issues in an entertaining way. It deals with racism and multi-culturalism in The Bronx, NY. Yet, it demonstrates how important it is to stay true to yourself and not waste your own talent. Also, the movie is a statement about Robert De Niro's own experiences with interracial romance. De Niro has been married twice to black women. Report this review A Bronx TaleThis movie is a classic; it has not been in production for many years, so when I saw that it was offered on ebay I immediately jumped at the opportunity to purchase it. The DVD was new, still in it's plastic seal. The cover was not damaged in any way. After promptly receiving the DVD I viewed it. It is a perfect copy.
