  Much better!

I absolutely hated NCAA 07. However, the gameplay was fine but the features were horrible. In NCAA 08, EA sports made many big improvements. The new campus legend is lots of fun, dynasty mode has always been good, and gameplay is a lot smoother and realistic this time. I purchased this game because I've been a huge fan of NCAA football and I'm happy to say that EA sports has finally brought out a great football game.
The cons:
No create-a-team feature.
Slow response sometimes.
No division AA teams.

Finally get the power out of your 360 in a sports game!

It appears that EA got it right this year with NCAA (And Madden 08 from what people are saying that have seen it).

The game play is smoother this year, with new tackle features such as air born collisions, new offensive blocking moves, defensive moves, and a load of other game play features and trick plays.

Where EA has got it right is expanded on the other game modes such as they dynasty mode, where you can scout players by attending their high school games, as well as play your games online (A feature available before, but enhanced). If you like the extras that come with previous versions of this game, you will love these extras because they are better than ever.

Give this game a shot, and if you don't like it you can always trade it in for Madden in a month, but I am betting you will like it enough to keep it around for a while!

Fun and Shows Mass Improvement From Last Year's Game
Review created: 08/06/07(updated 08/06/07)
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

NCAA Football 08 has improved greatly, finally using next-generation technology to it's advantage. This game features a new gameplay engine and branching animation system which allows for gang tackling and you won't be stuck in an animation and run automatically run out of bounds on a sideline pass to your running back.

Another great feature is the Weather Channel. What, the Weather Channel? Yep, every game will start with the exact weather conditions at the exact moment you are playing wherever you are playing! Extreme heat in Arizona? Your game will depict that. Hurricane close to Gainesville, Florida? "The Swamp" of Florida Gators football is where to be.

In addition, unlike the PS3 version of this game, NCAA Football 08 runs at 60 frames per second on the Xbox 360. Also, there are 115 detailed stadiums, up from 40 in last year's game, NCAA Football 07. Campus Legend mode is also back on the Xbox 360 after being absent last year. With the addition of this mode to the Xbox 360 version of NCAA Football 08, you will be able to take your player from Campus Legend mode and import him into Madden 08's Superstar Mode. Lastly, this game allows you to create highlights from your games and submit them to http://www.easportsworld.com/ and share them with others online.

This game is a must buy if you enjoy college football and enjoy playing video games. It is very fun and the online gameplay is great. EA did a wonderful job this year and I don't know if it is possible to improve the game much more!

Let me preface by saying I am addicted to the, "build your way up to the top" type sports dynasty games. The dynasty form of this game is just ok and the other dynasty form, where you start from high school, is original and fun.

Thats about it for the positives. What this games lacks is an identity. In the regular dynasty mode there is SO much to do and there are SO many options to toggle with that it is overwhelming to say the least. The graphics lag and clip NON-STOP. the graphics are well below sub-par. and the commentators are snooze button boring.

I bought this game with the best intentions, only to be majorly disappointed later.

NCAA Football 2008 - Better than ever!

Graphics: Excellent 9/10
The graphics are very well done and they are sharp. You can tell that this game moves at 60 frames per second (FPS) when it goes from close to far shots.

Sound: Great – 9/10
The commentary is well done, and you will feel that you are watching / involved in College Gameday on Saturday mornings. Your college’s fight songs are also included, which for any graduate, is a bonus.

Gameplay: Great – 9/10
Smooth animations, large playbooks, multiple and deep one player modes – this game has really grown up from last year.

Replay Value – Above Average 9.5/10
This is a great college football game. The multiplayer alone gives it a high replay value (though a bit choppy), but the single player experience is there to keep you coming back to take your team to the BCS championship again and again.

Overall – 9/10
This edition of NCAA Football by EA is a drastic improvement over last years outing. With additions such as “Super-Sim”, this game is a great addition to an XBOX 360 owner’s catalog.

This game is a must for the NCAA College Football fanatic. With plenty of single player options, dynasty modes, “Campus Legend” mode, and the online capabilities of the 360, this game will keep you coming back for more. The smooth gameplay and 60 FPS make this the better college football choice for those of you that have both the PS3 and the 360. This game is deep, and it will keep you deep. This game comes highly recommended.

I love the graphics on this game. never seen football look better from a video game. However, they took too much out. It almost cancels out the graphics. the gameplay isnt that good, there are no refs or line judges. there are no 1AA teams, there no two players on the same team. that to me is my favorite part that makes a game have replay value. My roommate and I were 11 seasons into a dynasty on NCAA 07. we were unbeatable. I'm very disappointed with the things the took out, just to add a few things. The best part of this game is legend mode. But only if your a single loser with no friends and have plenty of time by yourself. Not for me. would i buy this game again if i had the chance? YES. only because i've owned every NCAA football game ever made. I LOVE college football. I love the games that EA makes. but i would give this game a 6/10

Love football but stepped away from the video games for several years. Since EA got the exclusive NFL license it really seemed like there was no new innovations to bother with. This was my first "next-gen" football game I purchased. The gameplay is the same. Little challenge after a short learning curve. The players and stadiums look crisper on the new system. Even the features unique to the NCAA license like recruiting got old after only 1 season.

Felt good to get into a football game again for a little while but after one season don't see myself returning to it that often.

I liked the game very much. The game is more in-depth than before, because you have a chance to increase your caliber which shows the college coaches what your made of. The legend mode is very fun to play! You can create your very own player the way you want. A+!!

  Good Football Game

As a football simulation game, this title does a great job. Some of the peripheries don't hold up as well. There is an annoying pause between the selection of a play and the play starting, and the camera angle isn't ideal. Also the shoulder pads look goofy and the running isn't as fluid as it could be. Other than that, there aren't too many things that are better than recreating the 35-point beat down that Florida offered up on Tennessee last year. Go Gators!

Classic series of NCAA. Have been playing since 1999 and will continue to purchase every year. This is the best college football game by far. Since I play Madden 08 as well I have the option to import my NCAA Draft class into the pro's. Dislikes: If I could change the menu's I would be other than that no complaints.

  Playbook
Review created: 12/10/07
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

One of the greatest aspects of this game is the playbooks. Almost every team has a totally different playbook with motion offenses, trick plays, and various types of position changes. The styles are very similar to the actual teams also. Much more exciting is the gang tackle which allows more than one person to tackle a player. On older Ncaa Football games the player with the ball could get a first down or more with just being able to fall forward. On this game a few players can hit them and stop them where they are at. Awesome title, I give it a 4 out of 5.

I have no dislikes about this game. It improves NCAA 08 only in that the recruiting process is more realistic. There is also a Campus Legend mode for thos of you who like the quicker type game. In this mode you don't have to worry about calling plays you are merely a player and you are judged on your execution of the play. I give this game two thumbs up.

Being the second year on the Xbox 360 Ncaa 08 has made great improvements. The game play runs very smooth and flawlessly. Moves at 60 frames per second.

One of best new features are the tackles. You tackle anyway possible. Tackle high low, in mid air, at peoples legs, or perform a ball dropping hit, all with the hitstick 2.0.

This game gives you more control over everything you do, no more catching the ball out of bounds when u throw it to the sidelines. The players actually drag their feet, and perform ONE HANDED CATCHES!

The Dynasty feature is the best, the recruiting is so realistic. You have to talk to players each week, and find out what they like most about your school, and use that to make them interested into coming to your school. They have home visits, campus visits, and you can make promises, that if you don't keep they will want to transfer.

Campus legend is really good to, but sometimes gets a little boring. You have to play high school games to determine your skill level, and when your in College you work your way to the top, eventually to the Heisman trophy.

Graphics- 9/10 -
sound - 10/10
Gameplay - 10/10
Replay Value - 9/10

Overall- This game is much better than last year, and I recommend buying this before you buy Madden 08, I think this game is better. It is much more exciting, and fun to play.

It is a very fun game, loading times get rather annoying, but besides that a very sound game. The Campus Challenge mode is rather like the Create a Legend mode in Madden, but you do start off in high school state tournament. The high school state tournament is fun, but not very challenging.

Would be perfect without odd glitches
Review created: 09/25/09

ambelgra ( 2 )

It's college football, so it's hard not to like. Also, the more recent versions of the game aren't that much different, so buying this cheap wasn't a bad investment. My issue is that there are odd glitches, such as players completely disappearing from the playing field. This resulted in the following play to un-playable because it wouldn't let you snap the ball without the proper amount of men on the field.

Also, the blocking is terrible, the CPU defenders get the QB at will.

Other than that, it's not a bad game.

The intangibles are the best, recruiting, training, practice, etc..
