Season 5 adds a new twist into the world of smallville so many things happen that are unexpected. I do not want to ruin the surprise for those who haven't seen it yet. Season 5 continues with the growth of Clark Kent as he enters college it also dwells deeper into his relationship with Lana and Lex. This season is full of surprises all of which will test Clark Kent especially emotionally. If I must say this season focuses a lot more on emotions than previous seasons. So much changes in the fifth season of Smallville that it is hard to comment on aspects of the season without spoiling it for those who have not seen it yet.
However, in the most general terms, Smallville continues as one of the most interesting fantasy shows on television. A new character played by James Marsters of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fame joins the cast. He plays a professor at the college that Clark attends. Of course, no one is who they appear to be in this tale.
Themes of loyalty and betrayal prevail. As Clark, Lois and Chloe enter college and a new phase of life they must make harder decisions. Lex continues to make choices that will separate him from his humanity and his friendship with Clark Kent. Clark continues to push away Lex and Lana, even though at times it seems he will reconcile with them. Lois continues to be flip, curt and annoying. It is interesting that not only Clark but most of the main characters seemed doomed to have no sex life--as if the assumed celibacy of this superhero is infectious somehow.
In general the season is darker and less hopeful than prior seasons. Despite this it continues to fascinate and enthrall.

This is a GREAT series that continues to get better with time. This season we see Clark Kent move on from the more "typical" high school type drama to more real world events. I always find it exciting when we meet characters or hear references to what Superman does in adulthood (ie Justice League!).
To be perfectly honest part of the reason I enjoy this series so much is for the music! And once again this season does a stellar job with the musicians and songs its added to the series!

The fifth season of Smallville is the best one yet! I won't spoil anything for those who havn't seen it yet. This season is more about the main story than about "metor-freaks". While I have loved every season of Smallville, this one seems to have more meat and substance than the rest. I couldn't stop watching it! It delves deeper into Clark, Lex, and Krypton than any season previously. Plus watching Clark, Chloe and Lana navigate the world of college is fun. I really love this season, and think is it definitly one of the best shows on television.

The Smallville 5th Season DVD has some extra clips on each CD adding some nice detail to the Superman story. The layers on character building is more complex and very interesting. Even if you're not a fan, you'll find yourself engaged in the story. The writers really outdo themselves with this season.
The DVD set is made leaner, more slimline. And the book is informative as well.

Action packed season full of suprises and twists. I sat on the edge of my seat through every episode. I was always a big fan of the Superman movies growing up so I have really enjoyed watching this whole series. It's about Clark Kent when he was younger before he became Superman which the movies never really spent much time on. Excellent season. Must watch!!

Smallville is the only show that has ever been able to make Aquaman seem cool. Masterful achievement all in itself, not to mention the drama that season 5 is packed with. Enter the Fortress of Solitude, Brainiac, Cyborg, Aquaman, and ZOD. Clark will have to gather all of his strength to save his beloved hometown yet again and protect the people he cares about. Unexpected alliances will divide several characters and possibly turn them against each other forever. How will Clark deal with the death of a loved one? What decisions will he make that he may regret? You can only find out by watching season 5 and it is worth watching and buying in my opinion. Another top notch season WB!!! A+++

Smallville - The Complete Fifth Season (DVD, 2006, 6-DiThere is really no easy way for a newbie to jump in and enjoy the show, as none of these episodes really make much sense. Which is a shame, as the studio had a real opportunity to reel in some early adopters who might have previously missed the show. What they are instead doing this season, though, is making the situations more provocative and sexual, not something that we need in a show that is supposed to follow the lives of wholesome Kent family.
Having superman characters mixing up with witchcraft dose not appear to be a brilliant move, not to mention the involvement of previous life, jinx or spells, all these elements
The witchcraft episodes I will not allow my children nor I to watch. We don’t need are children to sponge up this mess for the rest of there life.

To start out with, the fifth season of SMALLVILLE does satisfyingly resolve the fourth season's cliffhanger and from there, it's a rather very enjoyable despite some lackluster but interesting episodes. The special effects are great, there's more fun in the stories and on a sad note, John Schneider bows out of the series here as Jonathan Kent in the 100th episode, Reckoning. Overall, if you liked the fourth season, you'll definitely enjoy this; if you're not a fan, you might wanna give this a chance - if not, oh well. I give SMALLVILLE: Season 5 a B+ as a grade!

In general i just love smallville it is the best tv seriers that i've ever watched so far and i decided to buy it because there were some epsoides that i missed while it aired on tv plus i wanted to watch it from the beginning whenever i felt like it.

I'm hooked on smallville. I did not think I would like keep putting off watching it saying no it look stupid. Will I was Wrong I got the movie so My mom could watch them mind you she is in her 60s and keep say no I would not like it.....RIGHT now I can't get her away from the TV... and NOW my dad how I never thought in a million years would want to watch is HOOKED.... we are all now big fans of Smallville if you have not watch it check it would it worth it.
