Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (DVD, 2005, Widescreen, 2-Disc Set)

This may be, in this humble person's opinion, rival even any of the other 5 movies, even the original 3. This movie definitely has a darker tone, which is a refreshing surprise for the series' now older fan base, and a good return to where the series should be after a less than stellar episodes 1 and 2. Not that any of the six movies shouldn't be in even the casual fan's collection, but this one is an absolute must. It's truly a dissapointment it took until 2005, but it's nice to see George Lucas finally got it right. It seems he saved the best for last. Let's keep it that way, because I honestly don't see any more of a future for this series. Best to go out with a bang.

I would have to say that Episode 3 is the best of the prequels. Episode 1 was good, but a slow start with Anakin as a young child. The Trade Federation's characters are plain but when they launch their attack on Naboo- that helps to launch the future of Anakin and Padme. The Pod Race was exciting but too long. The best scenes occur when Qui-Gonn Jinn & Obi-Wan face off against the Sith Darth Maul. Episode 2 was better than 1. Anakin is older and develops a relationship with Queen Amidala. He continues training with Obi-Wan and Count Dooku is introduced as a force on the Dark Side. Anakin begins to show his rebellious attraction toward the dark side which will come to fruition in Episode 3. Episode 3 (this one) was terrific. More of what Star Wars fans wanted to see. Count Dooku, who carries over from Episode 2, is eliminated by Obi-Wann & Anakin. Anakin shows on more than one occasiion that his powers have doubled. Anakin becomes the admired pet of Chancellor Palpatine, who of course becomes even more evil later in the film. Obi-Wan and a group of Jedi goes off to fight the cyborg General Grevious on a far away planet while Yoda teams up with the Wookie armies on their home world. As this is occurring, no one is around to help as Anakin continues to shift to the dark side and commits horrible acts in the Jedi Temple. There is a very emotional scene and highlight to the movie when Obi-Wan learns of Anakins misdeeds and confronts him. And the ending leading up to Anakin becoming Darth Vader was stunning. Very well made and a perfect setup for Episode 4 and the entrance of Luke & Leia. Your best bet is to watch them all in order - that being said - this episode is the best of the new three.

I'm a big Star Wars fan, and remember seeing the original show as a kid. This show did a great job of tying all of the movies together while being a very entertaining show on its own. Great action sequences throughout.
However, I have 3 problems with this that won't allow me to give it the 'Excellent' rating:
1. The little romance scene in the apartment felt out of place and, frankly, poorly done.
2. Anakin's over-dramatization of the end fight scene "I....hate...you..."
3. The whole frankenstein-ish scene where you first see Darth Vader. They could have easily done without stealing the scene from the old black and white Frankenstein movie.

I just cringe when I see those three scenes.

Any doubts felt about "prequels" as a result of episodes 1 & 2 take a saber in the gut right here. If you haven't seen episode 3 yet shame on you! This movie is beyond words and Lucas definately has made it worth the wait. Flawless ties are now established between this and A New Hope(Ep 4) and the last 30 minutes you won't even want to blink. I'm getting the DVD so I can watch it over and over again! May the force be with you!

I love the whole movie from start to finish! You truely must see this on even buy the dvd of it. It would surely make a great christmas gift for any star wars fan

I found this movie great, right from the start. Just like all of the Star Wars films, they all are just awsome. I bought the part III soon after midnight when it went on sale. I have the special edition with the bonus DVD. I also have a few for sale on EBay.

The whole thing was canned and lame, by far the worst of all of them. All cliches and poorly choreographed battles. A truly pathetic offering from a failing producer.

The series comes full circle. As a long time fan, I am glad to have had the chance to finally see Anakin make his final turn to "the dark side",(although you can see it coming, especially in esp 2) in this last (?) movie of the series (wasn't there supposed to have been 9 segments in the epic?). Here, confirmed are we (in Yoda's voice), of the true nature of Palpatine (I just KNEW he was the Sith Lord they had been looking for...The Emporer).

Is it me, or did Anakin seem bi-polar. One moment he was doing all he can to save his "master's" life (Obie Wan),and the next, he is trying to kill him. In one scene, he is telling Obie Wan how greatful he is for his teachings...then very next scene, he is complaining to Padame about Obie Wan. I guess that is human nature...putting up a front. You know, Anakin...they do have a pill for that....but alas, I digress. I do wish that Anakin was not so "whinney"; but I guess that is how they wished to portray his dissatisfaction. Personally, I don't think I would had him divulge so much to Palpatine, but I don't make millinos of dollars eithor.

I have such a desire to learn more about the entire back story as well as the future for the whole Skywalker Clan...but I am not much of a reader (quite impatient), so George: please finish the original series plan of 9. I will look forward to all the "other" work you will be doing (likee bringing a series to TV). Maybe if it all comes to a TV near you, we can buy it on DVD some day as well.

As a true fan, I just had to have this latest disk to make my walk to the dark side complete (LOL). I now have all six disks, and many VHS's. I am SURE, it won't stop there eithor: after all, there will be 3D versions (hmmmm), Director's Cuts, Special Releases, and of Course, BOXED SETS yet to buy (sorry honey...I just go to have it).

As long as Lucas Films will make it...I will buy it. For strong is the force with this one: unfortunatly the force usually pulls the money right out of my pocket. Oh well...

Star wars episode three did an excellent job connect the older star wars with the more recently released star wars. It is a must buy if you own any of the others. Seeing the transition of all of the different ships, characters, and other things made it fun to watch. There are many new things to observe from this episode every time you watch it.

Not too bad. That is what I have to say about this film. It did a good job of connecting the prequels to the original films and Hayden did a superb acting job as Ani. I liked it infinitely more than it's two counterparts. It is very much worth owning, I guess I was just pining for a little better effort for the finish. The effects were also breathtaking. THIS MOVIE WAS OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the Star Wars series is the greatest set of movies of all time. This movie did a great job in filling in the final part. I always new how Darth Vader became Darth Vader but I always wondered what it would look like on film. Now I know :-). Simply breathtaking. Highly recommened!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This episode was exciting, kept you on the edge of your seat you never knew what was coming next.It was packed with action. From my opinion this was the best star wars movie of all times.It's a must see!!

Definitely the best of the prequels.

Lucas finally got the story down. The screenplay do a nice job tying together all the loose ends; everything comes together very nicely. And, the acting has either slowly improved, or I've just become numb to it. Ian McDiarmid steels the show with his Chancellor cum Emperor Palpatine (aka Darth Sidious).

But the real actors here are the special effects. They are amazing - the best ever.

Fantastic movie. Outstanding special effects. This brings the whole story together. It will make a great rainy day project to watch the story from beginning to end.

If you like Star Wars this movie is a must. It is the best movie yet. It ties all the loose ends together while keeping you entertained. Well done.

Not better than the original three movies, but the best of all the prequals. I wish that we could have seen a little more of Vader in his black outfit.

If you want to see it so that you can have all three film. Buy it! I love star wars and was angered by this film. It was if Skywalker was waiting for a reason to become Darth Vader. He just needed someone to ask him. The dark side promised adventure and the light side promised him to have adventures where he did not get to kill innocents. Tough call, why not join the dark side?

George Lucas had a vision a long long time ago in a city far far away, was this what he had planned right from the beginning?
This sequel does tie in to the rest of the movies and explains a lot about what happened and why. I found that the movie could have been a little longer as it seems kind of "rushed" in the last 1/4 of the movie. I know there is so much happenning and it is supposed to seem like chaos, but the cinematography could have been a little better near the end.

Don't get me wrong, the movie is great! I like the way they did explain so much. Now I have to watch part 4, 5 & 6 again (it's been so many years!) to see how well this one does really tie in to the original 3.

One of the most exciting parts I found was when Yoda was kicking butt, I always root fot the little guy....
