I dont have alot of experience with the game yet but I can tell you it has been a popular series and this newest version of the game wont let you down. Very challenging and awsome graphics. Its a "rail" based flying shooter where you shoot at things with your dragon that can swich into diffrent attack modes, hidden paths in the game offer a uniqe replay value and the scenery is just amazing.

I wouldnt pass this game up if your a shooter fan, or just want to try a new game that can kill some time.

  Panzer Dragoon Orta XBOX

Great game! Rare find! Xbox platinum hit! A must buy if you can find it! The graphics are almost XBOX-360 caliber, and it is backward compatible on the 360 so many people can have the opportunity to play the game.

It's an amazing game. I couldn't find it anywhere for the longest time, then I had my "aha moment" (Oprah please don't sue me) and I realized I could probably find it on eBay. True, the graphics aren't that great because it's for the original Xbox. But the gameplay is solid and pretty awesome in every way.

  A Lil' Known Fact
Review created: 01/25/09

For those of you not familiar with this game (as I was)...as a Shooter game it is very intense, you have to adapt to an aerial arena/combat style that is very different for an "old-school" dodge and shoot Scrolling shooter, enemies come at you from the 4 main compass headings (N,S,E,W) thus you need to be ready to "morph" your Dragon into 1 of 3 different styles (light, medium and heavy or look at it as: Fast, Average, and Slow) each has a role, you decide how to defeat an opponent. You will also need to be aware that there can be "Above and Below" enemies so keep your eyes peeled as the radar won't indicate this fact so I'm just warning you as the review I read gave this game high reviews, but to be honest...the most annoying fact left out is 99% of the game is spoken in Japanese and the subtitles scroll far to fast, you just basically react to ingame situations, there is very little time to enjoy the story and the game in unison. So for me I can't agree with the higher end reviews in the bigger picture and thus can't give the game more than a 6.5 at best out of 10.

The "Save System" is adequate at best during mission breaks, saving at a checkpoint still forced me to start the mission from the beginnig instead of at "that" particular check point would be the logical conclusion thus this issuse also degrades my overall approval of this game.

Good points for excellent graphics and in-game controls and I experienced no slow frame rates of glitching on my xbox360 system.

The negative points I found with the controls I'd class as ultra sensitive which forces you to use the "homing weapons" far more than I would prefer...Leading a target based on its flight-path and speed is more challenging then simply Button-mashing briefly for a target "lock-on" and firing.

By no means is this game a cakewalk as I was presented with more than enough challenges just learning the game on the lowest settings and if "low" is difficult for this 30yr + gamer, the average and harder difficulties will be basically impossible to defeat so take this review at your own risk.

I hope this wasn't to harsh of a review, but I have my "particular tastes" and warning the public of pertinent facts that should have been in the "reviews" I read is just how I feel about certain advertising aspects, it's up to you "the better informed public" to decide if this review was of any purchasing assistance or not.

Best Regards Folks,
Scott A. (San Diego Ca. area known as North County) Good-Day 1-25-09

  This game holds up!!!!
Review created: 01/17/09

It's unfortunate that a "use to" power gaming company like SEGA would resort to being a 3rd Party developer, but whatever it takes to survive I guess. This game is just another mark of their innovative arcade achievements! The first game on the Sega Saturn was a bliss to experience, and this one continues that legacy. Hopefully they have a third one in the works. Even if they don't come out with a next gen "Panzer Dragoon", pick this up if you own an Xbox 360(any version)!!!

  Reminds me of Space Invaders
Review created: 11/01/08

I bought this game b/c it was named one of the top 25 games by gamespot.com. I'm not very impressed with it. The point of the game is to shoot a lot of stuff without any roleplaying involved. The game is more action intense than plot intense. If you like hack-and-slash games (mindless, non-stop shooting with hoards of enemies attacking you) you'll love this game.

  Orta Give it a Shot
Review created: 05/22/08

Panzer Dragoon Orta is one of the most visually stunning games available for the Xbox. Though it is an "on rails" shooter a la Star Fox, a lot of thought was put into the design towards moving the game away from a simple shooter. The ability to change into 3 different dragoon forms each with unique abilities and the fact that you must alternate between frantic button mashing and controlled button holding (to charge up homing lazers)add nice strategic elements. Hardcore fans of the old Sega Saturn games seem somewhat divided in their opinions as to these title's 'worthiness'. Don't worry about it! You can get this game for a song at Gamestop or on Ebay. You will certainly get your $7 worth of entertainment!

I am very happy with the acquisition of this product. I paid an excellent price considering that the value of the freight for Brazil is a little expensive here.
Excellent state of conservation of the product! Honest salesman.
