This book caught me off guard. I really thought that I was going to be reading about one mans persception of heaven after a near death experience. Instead I read about how he died! Was pronounced dead and was dead for 90 minutes. He reveals the timelessness of it all and what it looks and sounded like. Then the rest of the book is about his accident, recovery and the way that he had to deal with his attitude toward people and his accident.

I went it to it longing to hear more about heaven and I was disappointed it see that is wasn't all about it. I was not disappointed to do hear his description of heaven and I know that we can't really get into heaven and meet the Savior and then come back and tell about it- but the desire is still there.

I LIKE MANY OTHERS ARE CURIOUS ABOUT THE OTHER SIDE OF OUR ENDING IN LIFE. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE WITH YOU? THEN THIS READING IS A MUST. IT IS SHORT ENOUGH THAT YOU CAN READ IT AND YET IT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
THIS BOOK IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!

This is a great book for seekers, thinkers, Christians and nonChristians alike. It is a wonderful book for people who are facing terrible adversity and periods of pain and depression. It shows that the power of prayer is real and not in a cheap - I yank on God's chain with my request and anything I want He hears and gives me - way. I ordered the books for my Mom who had read it and wanted to pass it on and have one copy for herself. I read it and believe this is one book that is good for anyone. God is very real, but many times people's experiences are negative with what they have dealt with in their lives and with Christians and other's they've interacted with. Don seems to be very open in sharing his weaknesses and his strengths. He shows how God is all powerful and is always there - even when it may not seem like it on the surface. We tend today, in this postmodern age, to believe that science has most all the answers we need. We act like we can live however we want and there is just this great evolving mass of goodness that will support whatever we think is right for us. This shows "bad" things happening to "good" people and gives you answers for the seeker in you and your life.

I guess I am in the minority. I don't know. It is like a candy....a real pearly gate hanging in the clouds. I don't know. I just don't believe that there is a giant gate hanging in the clouds....It was just...i don't know. I can't even say it. I expect heaven to be a beautiful place that is filled with love...not a place where the only songs are songs of loving Jesus. I suppose many of you reading this review will see me in Hell rather than Heaven. I believe he believes his account is real. I do believe he believes it. But I guess I am still a doubting Thomas. I try to live my life the best Christian way I know how and belive that I am a good Christian, but I don't believe he was really dead. There were no machines hooked on him to verify it. EMTs cannot verify. Only physicians can verify it and that was not done. The preacher who went to him was singing and praying..hence he heard singing and praying. I cannot attest to what was seen, heard, etc. But how do we really know that he was dead? Just because he looked dead? I do not doubt that his faith saved him through his most incredible horrible grueling accident and recovery. And his book, whether or not it truly happened, is very inspiring. The thing that is amazing is that he believed it and it changed many peoples lives.....so in that sense it is heaven. But gates hanging in the clouds just does not do it for me.

True to life account of death and life thereafter. Not written 'preachy' although written by a pastor, it comes right from the heart of what he experienced while dead. Not just another 'I saw the light' book or a dream experience. Some are disappointed that he doesn't tell more of what heaven is like but you must remember, he didn't pass through the gate. If he had, I don't believe he would of come back to write his account. Once there, your there. Also, if he did enter the gate and came back to tell us all he saw and experienced, I believe that none of us would want to live here on earth another minute. Highly reccommended reading that will bring hope to those in doubt and courage to go on while living the difficulties of life.

This book had been highly recommended to me--and I was not disappointed--in fact, I have a long list of people to pass it on to. Even for those who are not avid readers, I would recommend this for much enlightenment. The first half of the book details this man's tragic automobile accident and the 90 minutes that he spent in heaven (was declared dead on the scene). To those that have a hope of eternal life, this man paints a beautiful picture of what is to come and brings peace in knowing that loved ones who have this hope that have gone on before us are in a better place just as the Bible says. For avid readers, read the entire book. For non-readers, please read the first five chapters (the last half of the book talks of his struggle with a difficult recovery both physically and emotionally--a little long/tough to get through. The first five chapters would only take half an hour to get through, so--a must read!!!

Worth taking a look at. Comming back from the light sometimes means lots of pain and recovery. I especially like Don's description of heaven and meeting up with relatives and friends - very uplifting.

90 Minutes in Heaven by Cecil Murphey, Don Piper

This book is the most inspiring book I have ever read which helped reaffirm my faith in God. Don Piper lost his life for 90 minutes in a horrific accident and then regained life as a Christian prayed over his body at the accident scene. The 90 minutes are just a brief part of the book. The remainder consists of his recovery from his injuries and rehabilitation and dealing with his experiences in helping others going through the same treatment and rehabilitation. A must read. All my friends are waiting their chance to read it.

This was a book I could not put down. It was not what I expected. I expected a book filled with heaven, heaven and more heaven, but what I got out of reading it was much, much more than what I expected. It was more like heaven on earth than above, it changed my life in a good way. It broadened my perspective on how fortunate we are to have caring people around us in our times of need. More importantly, it made me think of just how little I have gone out of my way to help others. Thank goodness there is still time to serve our fellow men and women. Also, it gives us yet another chance to get to know God a little better. We will never know all of His ways, but the ones he reveals to us in this book are worth noting.

I bought this book because, as a Christian, I am always looking for uplifting non-fiction. Rev.Don Piper's testimony is so inspiring! He tells his story in such an honest manner. He holds nothing back. I've encouraged my family to read this book. I encourage you, also. It's money well spent.

  90 Minutes In Heaven

This is an excellent book! Anyone who wants to see a glimpse of heaven should get it! The author recounts his death in a horrific car accident and is pronounced dead at the scene. For 90 minutes, he goes to heaven and describes seeing relatives and friends, colors he has never seen before, music playing all over with different songs at the same time-yet not confusing or noisy, and pearlescent gates that go as high as he could see and as far as he could see. His friends and family looked as he remembered them, but their faces were without wrinkles, and they all looked happy and at peace. They came up and hugged him and told him how happy there were to see him. What joy and happiness he experienced! Because he had accepted Jesus as his Savior, he got a glimpse of heaven and what it will be like. He is certain that it wasn't a dream or a result of some brain trauma. The doctors can't believe that he lived through this wreck and had no internal trauma or brain damage. Remember, he was pronounced dead at the scene and had no medical attention for 90 minutes! The only reason he got help was that a friend arrived and asked the police officers if he could pray for the gentleman in the wreck. The officer said there is no use, as he is already dead. The man went anyway and prayed for him and started singing, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and the man in the wreck started singing with him! Of course he yelled to the emergency personnel that, "He's alive! He's alive!" They thought the guy was crazy, but after much insistance, decided to give him a second look. He says the reason he is alive today is because people prayed for him and God answered their prayers. He recounts his suffering and depression of wearing metal fixators on his arm and legs for over a year. He questions why God made him come back to earth. He was bedridden for over a year and could do nothing for himself. God taught him to let people serve him and endure through the pain. He still lives with pain today and will never again do the things he could do before the accident. Yet he knows his job on earth is not done as he has many more lives to touch with the truth of Jesus. He tells people about his journey to heaven and reassures them it is a real place! Believe in Jesus and experience the peace here on earth that you will see heaven someday! It is your choice! Fantastic book! Get it and pass it on!

Who will we see in Heaven?
Review created: 06/26/06

Excellent writing of true experience of Don Piper, a conservative Baptist preacher, who was killed in a car wreck near Livingston, Texas in 1989. His body crushed by an 18 wheeler, he lay dead for 90 minutes in his vehicle. This true story of Don's trip to Heaven correlates with scripture's description of Heaven. He gives special insights into who he saw and describes the scene, music, etc. His extensive injuries, which plunged him into desparate depression, eventually allowed him to praise God and help others. A very encouraging and tremendously fascinating account.

I originally purchased this book on my Kindle. When I started reading it, I could not put it down. The book was very moving - and the message really spoke to me - in fact, so much that I purchased a copy of this book off of ebay - just so I could pass it along to others. So far, I have had 3 other people read it, rave about it, and pass it along. I actually have a waiting line of people that would like to read it. Please consider reading the book, you will NOT be disappointed!

If anyone has lost a loved one, this book will bring so much comfort to them by the way it is written. I liked this book so much that my family has given it to others who have recently lost a loved one. It gives a small glimpse of what is waiting for Christ's believers. I, for one, am looking forward to the day of being reunited once again with friends and family that have gone before me. When you finish reading the book it almost makes you wish it was longer. It is well worth the time to read it!!!!!!!!!

We had a brief discussion about heaven in our bible study and this book was brought to our attention. Some exerpts were read and it peaked my interest. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. This is the most spectacular book written about the power of prayer and the human spirit I have read! It confirms that God is God even when we don't understand why. If you need encouragement to go on...this book is a must read!
