This was a series that I was waiting eagerly for several years. It was a favorite of mine back in the 80's. The show was top notch. The casting was superb, particulary, the casting of John Houseman as Professor Kingsfield. Kingsfield was the teacher, the first year law students most feared and admired. James Stephens was very good as HART, the lead student. Other stand outs were Francine Tacker as Logan, the beautiful and passionate woman in the study group. James Keane played Willis Bell. Originally , he seemed to be the comic releif charachter, but grew in stature as the series progressed.
The writing was superb and many of the episodes particulay the Moot Court and Scavenger Hunt episodes were memorable. It was an intelligent, well acted series. It may have been too talky for the audiences, or the law school world too foreign for them to embrace the series. However, it is a valuable addition to my DVD TV collection.
On a personal note, several years ago, I returned to school at Devry University for a computer degree. At the school, we had a Professor Relotto teaching computer networks. He induced fear and respect. We had to get past his class in order to graduate. In many ways, he was our Professor Kingsfield. I once called him Prof. Kingsfield, he understood the reference and smiled.
